I second spot1 but disagree with the over 50s comment!

rune-go with a Mc Tavish Fireball 9.4 in length!

mac

thanks, that's what I was thinking.

I was relating longboarding to me and my age. I also think that not everyone no matter what their age wants to surf as if they're on speed. A lot of guys want some style as well as great maneuvers ( I think I spelt that wrong). There are a lot of young guys who rip on long boards as well as a lot of young guys who haven't got a clue on short boards. As I said before, all types of surfing are a hoot.

Be good to have a forum that reaches the massess.
Presently there is a forum on an opposition site www.australianlongboarding.com unfortunatley it is not as user easy as seabreeze and there is not much feedback on it.

longboarding IS surfing, like DL says just do a longboard post in the surfing forum..

there really isn't much to forum about is there...? e.g

'today was one foot, i went out, talked too loud and caught all the waves, bottom turned, trimmed sideways and was ripping. tried to 'walk the plank' and 'hang five' but found am too front heavy around the belly.people way too large for the small boards they were riding began to call me names, so i ran them over and pretended to do it on purpose but was acctually just out of control. then i got into an obnoxiously loud conversation with another longboarder whom i don't know and have never seen before but spoke to as if we'd been mates since primary school about how much this place has changed for the worst like i am some helldog local, even though i only ever previously surfed for a couple weeks during school holidays when i was a kid and for a few months when i finished school before i went into full time wage slaving for thirty years before rediscovering my 'surfing roots' in my fifties.

really what else do longboarders have to talk about...?

LOL

But you forgot the "move" where you stand still and clasp your hands behind your back. I think that one gets you style cred or something.

Cmon Laurie please give them what they want!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! They have big sticks!!

Hello People.Id just like to let everyone know that I as a LONGBOARDER hate other longboarders. The vast majority of whom are just a bunch of surf school dropouts that for some reason think they're going to be my mate. And then theres the Gen X-ers that paddle up to anyone nearby and talk at the top of their voice about how it was 30 years ago,YOUR AN EMBARRISMENT THE LOT OF YOU!That saidthere are a few competent guys out there to you I say I know how you feel.
THANKYOU ALL

Plastic longboards made by BIC rock....if you own a shortboard you should have a mal anyway...cos when u jump on a shorty after a mal it is very refreshing

unsociable ppl in the lineup suck if you are a longy and hate shorties and vice versa you won't be enjoying yourself anyways~~ That is the long of the short of it!!

C'mon Laurie, a longboard forum, isn't this post the biggest post in "surfing"? There is SOOOOOO much more STYLE to longboards & anyway, give us "OLD" guys something to dream about, back in the "OLD" days as well as the new "FANTASTIC" new progressive younger guys & newer boards that are doing so much these days....

Ok I started out on a 8 footer, then someone told me its not a loangboardSo off I go 9.6 this time McTavish Ray Gleeve, wow this thing ripped,as I learnt more I changed to McTavish 9.1 Fireball and the list goes on!I've owned around 6 Fireballs over the years from 9.1 to 10.0 (Noosa Trip) I now have the following quiver!
All McTavish, Fireball 9.4,Jackson Close 9.4,Redline 9.6 oh and a 11.4 Naish SUP
As a 100kg beastthey are all 23x3 except the Redline which is 23.1/4 x 3.1/4.
My son has a 9.1 Razer also McTavish

The Jackson Close model was racked after just two surfsand the Fireball btw is the best longboard IMHO was returned to the water, until last week I decided to give the JC model another go,so glad I did ,it was on fire,so its now first pick[}:)]This week anyway

sorry to rave on I can't wait to see what you guy's are styling on

WOW we made it to 60 posts

If you've got the Fireball, you might
want a single fin log.Thats why I
have my REDLINE for those smaller
cruzie day's! There are some great
shapers around,another brand I rate
highly is SOUTH COAST longboards.
They make sweet boards and top
quailty!

I'm picking up a 9'3" McTavish Fireball Evolution ( the latest one) in about 3 weeks and I'm so excited, can hardly wait to try it out. Previously I rode an 8'0" mini mal and currently a 7'6' epoxy McCoy Nugget, both great boards, but decided to go all out and go longboard. I decided on the Fireball because it seems that you can them in a "modern" way and not just stand there and just follow the board all the way to the beach.

I'll let you know in a few weeks whether this was all a good decision or not.
