I went down this morning with low expectations .....they were fully met did some swearing exercises and went home to sulk.
Desperado mode got me down to yesterday's venue again, half the size but got some really fun little runners with some surprising good shape.....then the bloody daycare camp turned up and the clubbie on duty was only to eager to blow his whistle to stamp his authoritiiiiiiii
sat out for a bit till they went for a run up to Floreat and back then shot back out for another quick rip.....and a bloody family showed up to swim
oh well 10+ waves I wouldn't catch in front of the cricket!!

Second swell has 18 but is only bees dik high??
Yup.
Happened the other weekend too when SLSWA recommended to close abalone day as their modelling ( and most others) will take the largest period of multiple swells regardless if its of an insignificant size.
C'mon you fellas! You gotsa re-learn how to read the synoptics.
Its a bit of a lost art these days.

Yes. It's my only hope in these over crowded times.

This really really made my potatoes boil, I paid for my licence knowing full well that I work most saturdays.
However this particular Saturday I was off.
My initial plan was to get my abs than surf the reef off the boat.
The little swell had gone unnoticed by the masses,,,,,,, until they called abalone day off....... So instead I surfed a reef I surfed last week bigger and alone with 20 other people cause of the swell WARNING, my resultant plan to have abs and uncrowded waves went pear shaped......... I got no abs and three set waves prior to a million boats/people descending.
I went in after three magic waves quite pissed off and I laughed at myself............ what a spoilt little brat...
Anyway today's non event I spent boating.
18 second period of south swell on a south wind tends to walk straight past us, secondary swell needs to be removed from the maths, unless it is travelling at a very different speed in which case it's amplified by a factor of 1.25 dependent on sea state and wind.
sometimes I like to just stop with my scientific equations and go hunter gatherer. Me take board put in boat surf I go....
Please no more talk of cancelling abalone day, I believe I may be having what is referred to a conniption.
LBB not worth the drive. Sat there for 2.5hrs hoping and preying the 25kt SSE would ease and the little waist high waves would clean up just enough to produce a short wall... didn't happen. The only wave I got with any promise little grom was right in the way and I had to straighten out to miss him... BTW the tide is still very low up there.
Travelled by boat today after sleeping in, only to get totally skunked by the sea breeze..
Really sick of these early southerlys..
Took the punt, 5 dif 4cast by 6 4casters (inc Synoptics!!!) went with the one that was favourable......it wasn't completely.....Further north GPA it did swing SE but (my choice had it going E) so really cross shore but never the less there was a pulse and did get some that nearly made the 320+ km round trip worth it.....we'll better than I would've got watching the cricket which wasnt on
saw a photo of bb Lana from a mate... about 1000 4X4s on it jeeeeeesuzzzzz would've been busy than Scarbs car parks on a clubby day with a special event on....won't be long b4 the council get parking inspectors up !!!!!
Armageddon Part two on the Scarborough camera.
Maybe give or take about 1000 people out scrapping for half ft waves.
I wonder how many have a Cantina device to scare the big fish away
Hands up if you're hanging for a surf.
II
My avatar also wants a surf.
Had a few days in a quiet bay on the rock. So did all the stuff: Checked the pots, a couple of crays, no cats though; went for a swim with the missus; every so often I looked at my reef and there was a wave.
Then sat by myself for 40 minutes in the middle of nowhere. It turned out that every time I looked at the reef a set was breaking. I timed it at 30 minute intervals. I got there just after a set, so got one wave. But, I got a wave....... and no one saw it.
Could days at the island are never bad, got a few fun shin burners yesterday out of town on the 9,4
two foot bigger I would of been squealing about how perfect it was
Surfed metro today early from 530-7 actually a few fun ones on the mal.
Get a job!
I'm working atm sorta Thursday to Monday 3/4 days a week, get the odd surf in and occasional snorkel.
I present to you a week of office views.
Well, you better grab your snorkel this morning!
(and there's still about a dozen people out at Trigg Point and it's literally ankle high)

Geez Raz, must have been some swell, it looks like you're standing sideways.....
Finally, some swell on the metro beaches on a weekend
Despite the ripping wind and crowds I had a decent session south of Trigg 3rds... pity the wind did not drop as it could have been quite good (for Summer).
Mate did the trek to LBB and reported it was good - head high and not too crowded. I still reckon the 25kt SSE wind would have been nasty...
Windytown yesterday bottom pic
top pics this morning, couple proper bombs big speed runs and s turns
I also got best pumping I've had in a long time when a rogue set came through which was far far disproportionate to every wave of the morning. After taking the first two on the head the third and fourth were less than welcome, I can only assume that everyone in the lineup had a similar feeling as crowds thinned dramatically after our group thrashing, like a team sport.
Got some fun little, emphasis on little, clean ones at secret spot x . Was quite surprised by "quality" and fun that was had as it looked like utter tripe from the cams and on the beach. Sometimes you gotta be sooooo desperate that your inner groom just says bugger it
Windytown yesterday
Did you see a few windsurfers out there on Saturday?
