I really enjoyed Friday, best surf I've had in months. I'd give it a solid 5/7.

I'd be happy with 5/10 at the moment... what a sh!t run it's been lately (Perth metro).

Na didn't make it in the end, might go after new year had a nice local surf today tho. Water is so nice right now and a small swell. Some random banks as well.

Thanks again Huey for a fully stoked 2017! My surfingest year to date!! It's hard to see it being topped. Ever. But bugger me like TC at Banzai if I won't give it a solid crack from first light.

Cool skiing is fun too, I can't ski anymore coz of my dodgy knee....yeah you get a lot of snow West of Tokyo. Personally I don't like too much powder coz I like to be able to see my snowboard & spin round easier without catching an edge. Next time have a go mate, you should pick it up easy too coz you surf. Just try it on a wide not too steep slope or you might get concussive seizures & take a trip to hospital like I did last April at Rusutsu Sapporo

Chick was launched into the air from being hit from underneath at N Point last September as well. Unfortunately Labor is in now, so no chance of anything effective being done through government intervention .....

I ended up booking him a 80 min jump start lesson. His sister tagged along also so i think it was around $250 aussie.. Anyway he didn't understand when you get hot (Ie walking that stuff) you need to zip down and he ended up sitting in a coffee hut feeling rather sick. SO my daughter had private tuition again..After we arrived back, he came out with us and my daughter was able to help him and he got it after about 20 minutes. When he tried a few black runs with me and my daughter, you could see he needed more lessons, or better control, but his general fearless attitude saw him all good..

A lady skiing out of bounds was found by a guide and another skier, it took them 2 hours to dig her out..The snow fall was nuts.

As for videos or picks, TBH im useless and have lots of footage, but often the camera is pointed too low, or too high..

My favourite run was along one of the lower lift lines, but they soon figured me out and on my last fun, filming, i was sprung by a liftie standing in the middle of the track

Really, my leg strength is anything let me down, i really enjoyed the powder, but it works the legs crazy..OH and getting back up after you fall..

Maybe our all around favourite mountain was Tsugaike.. A lot more open intermediate runs with one side groomed and the other side virgin, so good for all the family..

Train stations haha, I'm guessing you experienced Shinagawa or Tokyo station busy busy busy...you can spend a few hours at Kyoto Station easily, incredible architecture & food options

Definitely wasn't a wobbegong but wasn't a white either, probably a bronzy
like I said the bay was packed out the next morning, just letting you guys know so you can make your own decisions

Sounds like you travelled through Narita airport which is a pain. If you go again travel through Haneda airport. It used to be the domestic airport, but about 6 years ago it started doing international as well. Landing in Haneda you can stay somewhere nice like Kamata that has hot springs and heaps of restraunts and fairly priced hotels. Only about 25 mins taxi ride & then another 20 mins taxi to Shinagawa to jump on a shinkansen bullet train or you can get a subway train to Shinagawa from Kamata station. You could take a shinkansen to Yuzawa about 1hr 15mins West of Tokyo for a choice of heaps of hotels & slopes. I like the Sierra resort, they pick you up from Yuzawa train station and the slopes pass the hotel on either side. Beginners slope is super wide. Just gotta make sure you go on weekdays outside public holidays or it will be packed....otherwise Haneda to Sapporo is only an hour, much cruisier city & heaps of places to go. I like Kiroro which is 90 mins bus from Sapporo & has really good package deals flights/hotel/food/bus included from tokyo

Ouch, yeah don't wanna have to travel too far by taxi in Japan...you can still get cheap flights to Haneda, but Mid Dec through to the end of Jan is an expensive time to fly to/from Japan. Mid march to the first week of April is nice, lots of late season Sapporo deals. Tokyo will be like 15c to 18c and the Sakura will be starting to flower. We paid $1150 with Singapore airlines last March in/out of Haneda...the luggage services can be an awesome option, always amazes me how many stairs there are at some stations considering how high tech Japan is. My sister in laws station, Nishi magome has about 50 stairs & then some escalators. Used to have none up until 5 years ago, but why only like 1/2 way lol You really appreciate those luggage services in times like that

We actually flew into and out of Haneda. Heading up we arrived at 11 at night so got a private car to hotel in Hukaba. about 50 mt to the lift opposite. Driving through a blizzard with a driver who spoke virtually zero english..5 hours and that cost around $800.. Not cheap but not a bad option either really..Just the snow driving is so different than Aus. They simply dont tend to let you drive around the village here, but in Japan the roads are all open..

Actually by the end of my time, i was starting to get a good hold on it, also the trains often have english info available.

A little arrogant maybe by me, but i never considered the language barrier before leaving..

Yeah the luggage was a pain, especially with 4 people and most of our ski gear. We had a Japanese friend who was feeding us info and it made the world of difference.

The bullet train is so quiet and smooth, but a little under wheeling. I never once saw the green fields with white snow tipped mountains they show in the photos..Im guessing some serious photo shopping is used in those adds..
