why go to QLD and NSW when WA has like 67 foot barreling waves with no crowds

A 67 foot barreling wave would be about 60 foot bigger than i like

Why not travel for holidays, makes sense IMHO do you disagree

Actually an edit, 67 foot is more like about 65 foot bigger than i like

So which joint won?

And, I guess, the ultimate winner is you and your family as it is very hard to find a holiday that's not enjoyable. They just vary from lots of fun to awesome amazing ness.

Im thinking Byron Bay is still the leader. Being on holidays i guess the crowds won't be so bad but as long as i can find the right location (i.e. house) ill be set. Air tickets are all done though, so that was the time priority.

Sweet. You'll love it. Just take your happy place inside you if you paddle out at the main beach. Tallows is a really good beach and the crowds disappear too (relatively speaking). Just get some fishy/longboardy/minimal thing with you for it. Byron is even more gutless than the Goldie.

NO, travel is great,,but you WA guys have lots of breaks with **** all peeps why would sandgropers bother with the gold coast.
the goldie is just a city on the beach

thats me i hate crowds always have.

As for Byron yep nice place, was great in the early 80s
but last time i spent a week in off peak session at byron the lowest head count on the point was 68.

i didn't surf for the first two days as head count was 70 at the pass.

day three i said to the wife i didn't travel all this way to sit in a car park and watch.

don't know but if i lived in WA, i couldn't think of anything better than grabbing the wife or some mates loading the 4x4 with boards, rods and piss

find a quiet break and lighting a fire. but thats me.

As for surf I'll have more fun flapping around on a long board with my two kids. 14 girl who long boards and a 11 year old who can rip anything over 6 inches. Like me they hate wetsuits and the idea board shorts and thongs for a week is right up my league.
The other point is the idea even slim of a 300 to 400 meter ride excites me a little

And with three of you in the water I'm sure you can employ some dodgy blocking tactics to elevate your wave counts.
Good luck.

The points are good fun. And the beaches are weird things that are deep and have layers of peaks. The last time I surfed Tallows I was catching rights then linking it to left, left right, or catching the left off the same peak and going way long with left, left, right, left, left. Further south in NSW I found the beachies were more that one peak, one wall thing most of our beachies are. You will get lots of waves as most of the people in the water are useless. You will also get dropped in on regularly, but that's to be expected.
