Mourning my Dear mate Dad .... passed away in my arms at 1.51 pm Perth Time this afternoon

Dad , I cannot tell you how much my heart is breaking apart - and you fought like a tiger to stay with us even as I watched you slipping away , God I will miss you mate but please ask Mum to put the kettle on , I will be with you both up there soon enough ..... I am so lost , I am so alone but I will never ever ever ever forget the best times of my life my beloved big man , THANKYOU so very much for every single thing ...... Love from your Son always ....... Christ I am in a world of hurting and I am bawling my eyes out all over the keyboard here

I feel for you mate, I've never told you but I went through a similar experience with my old man 7 years ago & I still miss him. I can imagine how you feel right now. Your not alone mate, a lot of people think your a top bloke, Steve described you as an absolute gentleman the other week. Spoke it very respectfully...Stay strong man, have a beer for your old man, try not to rebound onto the cigs too much, can imagine it would be hard to quit right now...but yeah, take care, I care, "We" care!.....condolences to your old man

Hey Pup,
The late poet/writer Raymond Carver wrote this when he knew his number was up:

Late Fragment
And did you get what
you wanted from this life, even so?
I did.
And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself
beloved on the earth.

I imagine that was true for your father. I said farewell to my Mum a few months ago after a long and awful battle with illness. If we get nothing else for Christmas, we got the gift of all our days from our parents. I plan to make the most of that gift, Deano and I am sure, even with all the grieving that must be done, you do to. Maybe you will hear your old man speaking to you now and then. "Get into it," he might say. Or "How good's this!"
Brighter and better days are coming mate.
Dave
