I have been thinking of a old idea that keeps coming back.

I had a shortboard with a hull from the nose to about a 1/4 down. {supposedly a cathedral hull}

It had some good points in the shorty.

So my way of thinking is[stop laughing] to put one in a longboard. i want it it to take up about the top 1/3 of a 9'ft board. i want it there for the fact when i was on the shorty,the board never wanted to pearl. It would always seem to keep its nose above water.

So with that being the case,when noseriding the boards nose should not sink,im imagining it would almost be like a see saw. So now i struggle with the counter balance of the tail.

Would a big tail lift work? A- to help with turning and B- to keep more water scooping over it....

i will make this

only one way to find out

Its gonna want to buck you off I reckon and be really hard to control

I actually tried something like this once, my 10'6" munoz is a notoriously bad noserider, so I moulded a new slip on section around the nose and made it more bulbous along with a foam filling, and some conc on the underside. Once on the board, it would not come off without some effort.

The board would still pearl just as much as before, but it also stopped turning.

I do a lot of that kind of stuff, just for sh!ts and giggles, but I never tell anyone that I doing it because I know it never works.

I did break that rule recently when I showed Tux and Ted a pic of a double fin I made, it actually did work, but not as good as a normal single fin.

Ok,I don't understand how it will nosedive,as the hull in the nose will be pushed/forced to stay above the water. That's why the idea got me. Put as much weight on the nose and the hull will keep you up.

Also I don't understand how it would not turn as the hull is in the nose,and when you are turning the nose will be out of the water,or if it is in the water would it not help turn the board by rolling it on rail?

I know jack ****, but I would think it would be too slow with that weight on it the wave will simply pass you. Too much drag

Not likely, even if I did stumble across something worthwhile, I have no entrepreneurial skills, no business acumen, no competitiveness and I'm too old. I genuinely believe that if you have not made it, or look like you're going to make it by the age of 30, then it's probably not going to happen for you in a big way.

Vee or convex shapes will generally pull you down into the wave more...concave will give you lift

A rolled bottom will also make side to side motion harder to control...so basically I think you will probably end up with something that is pulling you down and trying to slip out from under your feet

But don't listen to me...casue I sure as **** don't listen to anyone else

50 odd years of nose riding principles say its better with a flat/concave forward and all the curves in the back end...everything works ...so re invent the wheel!

Get SDR to make one and see how she goes, interesting theory and you just never know... ... ... unless you a physicist and you can "maths" it out... I'm sure Roy would have a theory on this... speaking of, where is Roy???????

Tux i dont want a rolled bottom,in fact i dont want it anything like a old log. When i said rolled,i meant more the hull would help tip it on rail.

On my shorty you could almost do cheater fives on it,and the board being pulled into the wave was not a issue as it it never happened. In fact it was the opposite and became detrimental to the boards performance when it got to speed as it wanted to do monos

I know SMH was looking at them. Like him, i googled the crap out of them to try and find out more but there's amazingly little feedback out there. I did see a comment that they were heavy (but that's the build, not the hull) and that they track a little bit while paddling. And a couple of guys reckon they are tippy (again, that may be the rest of the board and not the nose).
There's a new one for sale on the Sunny Coast for $1250 with a paddle - and it's been there for a month now. Perhaps that says something. I asked next door for feedback on the build quality a couple of weeks ago and tumbleweeds are blowing through that thread. I decided there weren't enough positive comments on the interweb considering how many of the boards there must be out there...

That nose does look good though and it seems like many of the serious 666ers love Blane Chambers designs like Mac loves Bob's.

BUT in the true spirit of design , which theory is not always right. We are going to make this board....Plus Macca would have been all over this like a grom

So,SDR said that the hull would make the board very tippy,in way that makes it unstable not in a good way I disagreed with him

I will be brief because he did sort of bamboozle me with information,and it will be easier to explain once i get on the cad program with him.

I will say that it will be made on a hp longboard,as my/our idea is that a hp lonboard is a struggle to get good nose time,so the hull should be perfect,if im right.

The hp has way more streamlined nose compared to a allrounder or log type board Making for a better shape for the hull. So the being tippy might be a big benefit for the hp. Plus since SDR hp boards already have a heap of tail lift it is a board that WILL work
