And if you have one that is tight, wax the sides of the base before you slide it in, for unknown reasons this works.

I took a leaf out of Pub Blues and used ...Vaso...multi use product alright

Here is what I ride in my log.

http://www.shapersfins.com.au/longboard-fins/box-fins?product_id=384

really, gee its a monstrous fin. i ended up getting the smaller 'crescent' and used it once- way to slow and unresponsive for me. now it just sitting in the back of the car

Send it down to me in Tassie so I can have a try!

The fin I am now pivots so well, and holds. Not great on drawn out turns but quick sharp pivot turns off the top or bottom are great!

TC.

Teacake your kidding right, sharp pivot turns with this type of fin wtf

If you had ever ridden on one you would understand how it rides! Great small wave fin!

If you want a laugh ..or waste surf time..take out the centre fin (if you have a 2+1 set up) and ride with only the side bites

Haha I wasn't either, found I had to be real far forward to not slide sideways!

The 2+1 without the 1 is even harder I reckon, you think you have control then you just don't!

these are the ones that aren't in anything at the moment.

Chrispy the blue wiz one is kinda like the one you are looking at, they are good, pleanty of drive and the extrara area at the tip holds them in nicely.
I used it in my log for a while and have used it as a single in my normal 9ftr. Good alround single fin

3rd down on the right SP, what can you tell me about that fin.

tilers wedge does the trick too.

really fin box and fin set ups- all the company's have managed to screw it up. futures and starboard being the biggest sinners. sick of packing , wedging, taping , sanding sides and toes off to get fins to fit. that 'slater trout' fin is the worse fitting fin ever. its 8.5" and the slot section just disappears down every fin box- to skinny, toe is wrong, pin position is wrong

and im sorry to say shapers are guilty too. shapers fins fitting real loose in shapers fin boxes - doh- how!!!!

i don't get many that fit well,ever

Mine... 9" Dolphin rear with FCS II Performer Quad Rears for the side bites...

Fabric inlay same as I have on the deck.

Unfortunately the Fabric makes the fin wider so it doesn't go fully into the slot. This means the screw sits a little high. At my skill level it really doesn't make that much difference. Only real problem is that if you take it out its a bugger to put back in.

It was made for a midlength egg by a local guy in the days when surfboard shapers would make fins.
All the black ones are made by him.
As
For the fin
McCoy popularized idea I believe, maybe in the 70's.
The idea is the bulb gives hold and the narrow neck will flex and give a bit of extra drive.

A lot like a cutaway fin, cept the front cutaway is supposed to make it turn better.. I think they were called footy fins or something

Always went well.
