The concave on my 10ftr stops about 1.5 - 2ft from tip and this sweet spot once it gets going. 2/3 steps forward and it flies. I like the look of the pin - should make it easier to turn.

I have always loved and shaped concaves....I think the best concaves have come from this area for a very long time....going way back, when Glen Richie and Mitchell Rae were doing outer islands out of Nana Glen..... (Glen is now living in PNG building boats I think, and Mitchell is just down the road still doing outer island of course)....we definitely pushed the envelope in concaves...them a bit more than me....anyway.....what was found was that when a heavy concave was starting to max out with speed ,it wanted to sit flat and not roll up on its rail....almost sucking onto the face...Glen and Mitch started to chine the rail through the nose fading out round halfway to resin edges through the tail...I bowled the nose lifting the rail off the bottom....around the mid to late eighties I started to run the chine right through...which in simple terms made for a user friendly concave...I have had conversations with Mitch about this...and we both agree it must have been a natural evolution as neither one of us was influenced by each other, and both came up with a very similar concept.....short answer Daz is that if you love concaves, a little bevel on the rail works wonders....the angle....width and curves are the trade secrets

That is a lovely board Ron, after seeing it when picking up my new board, I want one!

glad you explained that. I was kinda worried it would catch on the chines up front

Picked it up, christened it in far less than ideal conditions but can feel it just wants to go. Hopefully with LFish tomorrow we'll get a few nice ones.

Agree. Both sleds look amazing....talking about beautiful boards,tiller senior had one that caught my eye today

I don't know how he does it either but, Ron, I can say that board was a delight today. Late dusk at Tea Tree, few people, lovely waves, warm water and it just cracks along. Drugs kicked in so all was good. Big smile on my dial.

It rode well considering the conditions, it's much more refined than what I've been riding, Ron said it will ride much smaller than is measures and it sure does, it feels very nimble and quick.

Awesome champion - and I think the Houndrel is impressed looking at that big grin

RG - I have a MR corral reefer as my gun. It's insane. That man makes a lovely board like yourself. The quality of the finish is worth its weight in gold. The board goes incredible. It never lets me down giving me a world of confidence when I should be shutting bricks ! I love the way he did the stringers - touch of class.
