She's fully set up for camping , will get some more pics when She gets dropped off .Already have the 1st trip planned .

Will have to add some board racks , can't work out how to fit the kids on the back seat while the boards are in ,

Only options I could see was either to cut the kids off at the neck region or put on some racks . Missus didn't like the first option and the kids weren't so keen either

The Sundowner Weiry how cool were they . My older brother had one when I was about 17 .

Sorry to be the one to have to tell you this... but the kids are gonna have to go...
Or get one of those rooftop luggage boxes and tell the kids it might be cramped and a little windy

I had an EJ wagon way back... didn't do over 75km/h, 3-on-the-tree manual, big green bench seats, and a wooden boot interior. Got pulled over by the police half way down the highway and asked if I wanted to sell

Like a sunrise ,

This one goes a bit faster then 75 kms Zarb she has had a bit of work done to the motor .
When I looked at it asked the seller , a 70 year old lovely lady ,how fast it went as she took me for a demo drive . Answer was it flies and she proceeded to show me just how fast it went . I don't think Kombis are made to take corners at 90 kms per hour . The young bloke and myself were very releived when she handed over the steering wheel .

Make it worse as she was taking these corners she was switching through all the dash controls to show me they worked And waving to all the locals as she flew past .

Just thinking I haven't spotted any EJ wagons in years . Great old cars

I used to have a bare boned van with a 2lt in it. Went like the clappers and performed very well in sand. Took it to the Bluff many times as well as Wedge along the beach from Narrowneck often. Used to get some strange looks flying past bogged 4bys that hadn't let their tyres down.

LOL smicko, I used to see a Vdub all the time up along the bombing range tracks in the late 80's, awesome cars on the sand with the engine over the drive wheel...I saw a Sandman panel van down the beach today. Immaculate condition...Bloke just bought it for $15K in Queensland & drove it back to WA in 6 days. He got a great deal I reckon...gotta be not to fussed about petrol money though with the 308

Love it Smicko .

Unfortunately I am already under strict instructions if the Kombi hits the sand I lose the keys

No sense of adventure

We have been on the lookout for a couple of years now Tux ,

. Have seen some absolute **** buckets , saw one rust free kombi held together by bog , one that was guaranteed not to leak with big water stains in the back , some real death traps .

Lucky to fluke on this old couple that are absolute VW freaks . You should see the VW Kombi ute and beetle they have parked in the shed .both in as new condition .Apparently the beetle purrs along at 100 m.p.h. the old bloke has dropped a Porsche motor into it .

Know how you feel Ted but I live by the saying happy wife happy life

I may have bought this one on myself
I may have taken my Navara down a narrow beach track to check out the surf , and I may have scratched up one side pretty bad on a low branch I didn't see .

But I am admitting to nothing

Thanks Danelli you may have seen Rhonda up in Qld already apparently she has done 3 trips up the coast to Qld in days gone past .

Did it come with all the trimmings? Or are you installing those yourself?

I am, of course, talking about the giant multi-piped bong bolted to the floor, and crystal bead drapes.

Hahaha , is fully set up for camping with rock and roll bed , battery , fridge ., which suits us .

And has got lots of 70 s fittings like the dice on the rear vision mirror , which I am told is now illegal but no, no bong set up

The old girl that had it has pretty much rebuilt the whole thing from the ground up .

I see she has just listed her blue Kombi ute on gumtree . Anyone chasing one this is a real nice Kombi . Unfortunately a ute doesn't suit us and she is asking a bit for it

Beetle is another car I wouldn't mind... but it's not very longboard friendly.

I think the best surf vehicle I have seen is a converted Izuzu 4x4 truck.

Pretty mean looking vehicles those isuzus

My 1 st ever car was a beetle . must admit it was a long long time ago had big plans to knock the roof off and make it a convertible but never got around to it .

Used to rock and roll so much on the road it made new passengers seasick , not a good way to impress the girls . And had an instant garbage disposal system in the back floor . A hole just the right size to dispose of empty stubbies , bit of a bugger though when going through puddles .

The navara only has 28k on the clock so by the time its dies there may be no good Kombis left.........boooooooooo
