Yeah thanks guys. I've been out of the water since July and its still niggly so I went and had a scan and the doc says that he needs to go in again so fingers crossed. It is good to log in here for a look to catch up on what everyones riding and just surf stories. I've checked out a few other surf forums and some of them seem to be some unfriendly places with the exception of this one.
At this stage I'll be happy to be able to walk properly. Here's a tip though look after your back. I'll post back after the op.

Dont panic mate Ive had a major back op and Im fine now, op was Jan 07 and I was back in the water June 07

Whatever you do...Don't take up sailing...., I have just found the worlds worst job, spent the day scraping and sanding dads boat before it is painted in anti foul. I have this filty black watered down paint look on my whole body and this **** won't come off. And to top it off all afternoon the shipyard was sanding a fiberglass boat and I just breathed in a crap load of fiberglass dust.

But the beer does taste better

Best of luck SMH - hope it gets fixed once and for good! Will be thinking of ya. I get my stitches out tom but will still be out of the water for a little bit longer due to an infection. Nothing to complain about compared to you!!!!
