well after reading all the boring posts from mac...sorry mac I know your only paying out on lacey.

How long do you all wait?

most boards through my time have been 4 to 6 weeks and im happy with that. I had one when I was younger that took nearly3 months

with mac banging on how his board took three weeks, well I would be disappointed that he did not get a VIP express deal with all that he spends there. Plus the shaper s name on his board does not shape it,just a ghost guy doing it would be more salt in my wound.

so without wanting to have concrete boots on my feet...how long is too long

Depending on how "custom" the board is - a unique shape, complex artwork, extras..... Im never keen to hassle a shaper to "hurry up"..... Most will give you an idea of how long.. based on work load and the work required...but I would never be expecting anything quicker than four weeks - and am happy to wait three months if that's how it is. If you are desperate - then get a cheapie pop out in the mean time.... Good things are usually worth the wait!

My last was 3.3 weeks and yes they do look after me.
Sprays around 4 - 6 Tint anywhere between 4 - 8 weeks
The longest I've waited 9 weeks due to blank supplier putting a custom glue up on the back burner for ever.

Depends on the shaper and board. From my main recent shaper, 4-6 normally. Last one took 3 months. From another bloke who I will soon be getting another one off 9-12. Months that is. Yep. Up to a year for a board. They are fantastic handcrafted beasts though and if you think if it as a layby plan it makes it more appetising.

My last was 5 weeks, but generally they say 4-6 for a custom. I'd add an additional week for a tint/art work.

Here's the tip:

Only ever give your shaper a very small deposit on a board.

You'd almost imagine paying up front would make it faster right? Nope......... Most if not all shapers have low cash flow, you pay up front, the money is spent and they'll rush to get the board finished for the guy that will give them money when there board is done instead of yours.

Don't ask me why but with almost 20 years of experience of working for or with shapers I tell you to never pay your money up front.... I waited for 4 months once for a board I paid up front for...

Sorry shapers, you know this is as true as I do.

Paid up front for a board last week, lets home I'm one of the lucky ones.

I've had boards take 3-4 weeks, I've had boards take 7-8 months. Bit of a crap shoot really.
