www.foundboards.com

Mitch Rawlins is based in Burleigh and makes custom boards for most pros Australia. Made my last custom board in Jan & very happy with it. Mitch is sole lidder sponsored by Billabong and is well known for surfing silly waves in WA with Mark Matthews, Kerby Brown etc.

My "quiver" consists of:
* 10"6" C4 SUP
* 9"6" McTavish Noserider (currently "minding it" for a mate who has moved to Sydney - might have to keep it!!)
* 9"4' SouthCoast Longboards Log - Dane Peterson model
* 9"0' Firewire - thruster
* 3 x custom body boards.

Probably surf my Firewire 90% of the time and only get on the body board when its bigger on the points or barrelling on the beachies. Been riding body board since I was a kid and a L/B for about 2 1/2 years found I was getting stale and have enjoyed the change. I don't think I will ever give up the body board however it is a lot harder on the body than the L/B - probably because I only surf it when it is bigger and is almost impossible to paddle against the sweep.

They are plague proportions at my local. I cant decide whether i hate it more when they take all the waves or when they all paddle back out together so you end up playing major dodgems. Now i just plow through

Elbow band works best for most.
No fins on the board.
Tiny bit of wax on the deck helps.
Any travel bag will do, and most boards are pretty tough.
No racks, fits in the boot.
Newbie Mac you are a dork!

After plenty of testing, I liked the Bat Tails in beachies, and Swallow Tails on the Points.

Disclosure - I rode a Booger or three in my earlier days! Sorry!
Got really bored with it when I was about 25-26... Saw the light!
One day I woke up to myself! Looked around, and realised all my mates had stopped too!

My son rides one and although he can stand up and ride a board he's sticking with bodyboarding because his mates are into it. There's some pretty nasty ledges around here perfect for bodyboarding but one day he will understand that there's more to surfing than gut sliding.
