One must rise at a reasonable hour, partake of coffee with ones friends and then have a good long chat in the carpark.
Boards must be compared, paddles discussed and of course the wind and tide must be fully considered.
Then and only then is one ready to delve into the ocean.
But before you do, make sure you are all kitted up and that you are wearing the latest in fashion boardies and T-shirts. No rashies are allowed if you wish to be considered in the upper echelon. You also must be wearing a sun visor, no caps allowed.
If you can manage all this before 5.30 am then you are a better man than me.
