Have had a 7th wave suit using Yamamoto rubber, many years ago. It lasted very well. Needs are good value but need replacing often. Have got tears in two necks on current suits. Oneill, I have a cheapie that gives me neck rash, a winter suit that is awesome and a very winter suit that doesn't get wet in Australia, can be too hot if the sun comes out while there is snow on the beach. Gets used a doz. times every second year and looks and feels fantastic.

Basically, a 4/3 Oneill if you feel the cold, a 3/2 if you don't. Front zips are more comfortable to wear IMO but harder to get on/off.
Anyway, there are clearly too many peeps in the line up these days, so give it up already!

Almost had retirement enforced on my today when I got pinned down for two long holds.

Ended up climbing up my leggie only to get smashed back down without a breath.

Hard not to panic in that situation, but luckily past spearfishing and freediving experience kicked in and instead of panic I just relaxed and conserved.

Still rattled me a bit. Moral to story is do not try going out in storm swell alone.

Oh and the glue on the arse of my wettie panicked and let loose.

Not a great surf today.

Half a cap of Canaston anti bacterial laundry liquid in a tub of water works well to wash them out. No need to soak them for long. You can get it from coles about 7 bucks for a litre.

Buy a good wetty and look after it and it will last a lot longer keeping the overall price down. I use patagonia They have a great guaranty offer where by they fix your wetsuit for free.

Pretty much committed to the O'Neil, just gotta sell a couple of things to pay for it. Yeah likely only get 2 to 3 seasons out of it but will cross that bridge when I come to it.

Perth based shop has it set aside for me as almost the last LS size in Oz.

Price is good at $199 for a 3/2 and the build quality, and yeah I know only semi sealed seams, but much better for pissing in and flushing through.

Besides I don't get this whole Nancy pants generation of hipster sales people in their skinny legged 3/4 jeans who only want to surf in ideal conditions or wear a fully sealed suit to stay "dryish" in a WETSUIT?

If I listened to their sales stupidity for a bloke my age I need a fleece lined, fully seal, front zipper, plush finish, titanium lined, 4/3, fully flexible, with inbuilt heating, a hoodie, booties and gloves.

Gotta laugh hey, these guys need to grow a pair.

P.S When researching I read about a bloke with a fully sealed suit (not a dry suit) who had the neck sealing fail on him. His suit ballooned with water that couldn't get out as quick as it was forced in and he nearly drowned. Seems that they do take into account pissing and have a couple of little drainers but it was not enough to empty him out. He made it back to shore but crikey what an ordeal that would be.

^^^^^^ Yeah some of those super stretchy ones can do that ,you walk out of the surf with a bad case of elephantiasis, the Excel I have had for 3 winters is the best suit Ive had.

Goin into the 4th winter in the 4,3 peak if i can get a hundred more days then its a good suit ! Gets cold on the rock

Talking of pissing in suits - bought a couple of secondhand wetsuits from a triathlete few years back . We think our wetsuits are expensive , think these were about $2000 new , paid $80 secondhand .Super flexible suits . Anyway the triathletes cut a little piss hole at the front of their suits , need to pee during a race just pull over and let it go . Had the holes patched before we used them .

Still hanging on the rack - knees held up okay , got them for the teenage kids they used them for about 18 months before they outgrew them . Both of them have anchor wetsuits now ( Hobart brand ) - great value for money . We have about 7 of them between us - swim in wetsuits petty much all year round here .

Yeah it's chilly your way for sure, all season suit needed.

Visited about 3 years ago for a couple of weeks and did the whole lap of the island thing in a camper.

Mt Wellington was bitchin cold as was Cradle, first time the missus ever saw snow and Wombats.

Coast line was magnificent with lots of beautiful coves and bays, east coast was rugged as all hell, so much variety in such a compact place.

Didn't come across any two headed cousins though

But did come across some crazy little variety shop in a town that I can't remember the name of, it was called some sort of emporium?
Anyway an amazing place that we spent a whole day looking through.
