Phillip island was my next stop in 1998 after leaving Apollo Bay & visiting my uncle in Melbourne. Had to bail back to WA quick coz my gran passed away. Keen to visit next time & catch up with my uncle who now lives in Echuca retired from his riverboat tourist operation.

Just left the great Southern yesterday, its the same. Chilly South, Hot North winds. Had mostly East cross shore about 21c

Officially drug free today - no more antidrepressants etc, got the OK from the psychiatrist and all.
Well almost drug free - Coopers still features.

Here's an old GASH ad from Tracks when it was printed on A3 newspaper and cost a couple of bob and there was always a pile of 'em next to the dunny (just in case).
It's a real early design compared to the later work by Simon Buttonshaw (and used by Greg Brown on his boards).

Knocked up some Indo chicken Soto Betawi soup. Sweet, salty, coconut, fish sauce, fresh limes and tomatoes-
plus I got waves today - 3 foot and westerly Kona wind but managed to snag a few orright ones.
All washed down with a copy of the latest Pacific Longboarder.
Im stuffed, but as Les Norton would say, you wouldn't be dead for quids.

Yeah, it's funny Nozz. I've been digging this tune that Greeney posted a few weeks back by (the late) Jerry Jeff Walker.
In the tune he says the greatest line , "successful men get what they want, happy men want, just what they got."
Geez it resonated with me eh - especially after splitting with the missus etc.
Keep life simple seems to be the best way forward I reckon.
And Jerry absolutely nailed it with this one.

Its an absolute belter (big ups to Greeney for posting it - cheers cob!)

haha nice pretty sure I've read every Robert G Barret book up until about 1997. My Faves "Davo's little Something" Not a Les Norton story but just epic from start to finish. Otherwise, "The Boys from Binjiwunyawunya" was awesome too & had pretty much all the Les Norton mob involved

Edit: Just checked there's one book I havn't read of his, "High Noon in Nimbin" I'll have to order it

Good on you, Mango Dingo. Glad to hear you are getting waves up there in the NT (some good coming from the madness that is sweeping WA). Great looking dinner! How good is Jerry Jeff ... and how good is Pacific Longboarder! 12 pages of Fenna De King's fine work in the latest edition, i see (some good from the madness that regularly sweeps Noosa ) . Yep all epic...& after you mentioned it I had a look around & found I still have them all in good condition. Found a big pile of Phantom comics I bought around the same time as well living in Margaret river for 6 years without a telly
