stoke is surfing with ya mates. knowing they are there for good times and a laugh...not the ones who are always trying to scheme a buck or find a rort and just take advantage of crew...not that anyone on here would do that

Stoke is catching a wave, doesn't matter what sort or size of wave, and surfing till it ends and being happy that you did that wave justice in your own eyes. That is Stoke.

It's pretty important to keep the stoke. It was advice I got given when I was about 30. How many soldiers have lost the stoke and fallen by the wayside over the years? Very few blokes I surfed with in the 70s, 80s and 90s are still out there.

Of course with crowds these days, that's probably a good thing.

It only takes one wave.

That's one thing I keep convincing myself is a benefit of having to drive 80min each way for a wave, you're always stoked to just get there and will surf almost any conditions.

Surfing with good crew adds to this too.

Well said Vanders. I also have to drive that far to get to a wave. One day we will live close. I am busting my chops to hopefully one day have a beach shack for the fam. Peel them away from thee electronic world and experience nature.

Stoked for me = trying to live the dream. But in all reality it's bloody difficult. We will persist but let's just say it's never as easy as you think / thought it would be. But after spending a few days arguing / discussing / negotiating over the state of our new road I surfed a freight train left for 2 hours with 3 mates and only waited more than 3 mins for a wave twice. Stoked! First surf in a while n it was epic. Stoked ! Smiles are free - give them out all day long and take some others along for some 'stoke'. Happy smiley people make the world go round
