i don't know why rip curl get talked up. i was having to replace mine ever year.

the stretch just sh1t its self.

i brought a billabong wettie 2/2 - the solution gold- the ones with the yellow teri towelling liner inside, probably don't make them now

then got the 3/2. still wear both.

the 2/2 is on its last legs but hey it 6 years old. also have a west 2/2 that been pretty good too. however its newer but is more worn than the gold

i'll wear the 3/2 more this year because of more prone surfing.

hard to believe but im a cold water sook

Yeah bought an Xcell last year, hoping not to have to use it but felt super stretchy.

Funny thing is I surfed with Ted this morning and he said I should wear my springy & I bloody near over heated, should have just gone the boardies & wettie.

I've got a 3/2 and 4/3 Rip Curl E-Bomb. Great suits and if you order them from the US they are half the price!

Which site did you order from bro?

The irony given your location just blows me away

I know Ted its ridiculous. $400 for a wettie if I buy it here or $240 from the US. Crazy!!!

Tux, I've got my last couple from www.cleanlinesurf.com/ - the postage to Australia is $70 but if you get a few mates to go in on the order its not an issue

Cheers bro...the irony is incredible...you can generally order a Ripcurl suit from a guy in SA than you can buy one in Torquay

Hey Mol, I?ve had a Patagonia R2, back zipped steamer for 2 years and love it. Often the top half is still dryish when I take it off. I?m a skinny old man who feels the cold and whilst my mates shiver away I?m snug as. I don?t surf full on waves and don?t duck dive so have never had an issue with the neck seal. No wear to the seams or wool after two years.

Hey All - Pulled my old steamer hoping I could get another season out of it (it is 4 season old) however just doesnt look like I will.

Just wondering on what everyones thoughts are for the best 3/2 going?

I have been looking at:

Matuse
Patagonia
Also a new US company called Carapace.

All around the same price but the Carapace is custom made to my measurements.

Any others I should be looking at?

Cheers.

Would never consider the brands you've mentioned.....I used to have Rip Curls, then liked Quicksilver, but now loving my Excel. Warmest wettie I've ever owned. I'm sure other companies are also using new tech like climbing in through the neck, new materials, glued seams etc. But for the price I paid through surfstitch ($250 delivered). I'm pretty stoked with it. I only wear a steamer for about 4 months a year though. I'll wear a springy until it gets really cold.

Well I saw a big sloppy Steamer attempting to surf by itself today .... it even had the classic white Pelmet on , fair dinkum ... it reminded me of Captain Hankie or Condom Man cannot decide which one

What's with wetsuit sizing too...rip curl XL E bomb too big or too stretch in the arms and legs but L is too small?? (nice wetsuit but has perished in the shoulder area -2years use)
Quicksilver cypher XL... Too small in the shoulders tight as and a bastard to get into but warm as f---k
Billabong old Revolution hybrid zip thingo. Great fit lasted 3years but unexplained rips like fin cuts but no body damage

Long story short.....do they deliberately (ripaquickbong) make there sizing different???

Bet it's to stop internet buying.....all of mine have come from US or Dexter or outlets on the gold coast at about 1/2- 3/4 the cost of a new one

A mate that runs a shop charges $20 for punters to try on wetties because of the internet cheapies

When i tried on my Xcel it was in a heated shop and after a few minutes i was ready to pass out. Especially in a small change room

The thing i would like to know is are all chest zips the same to get out of? I watch the pros and many just pull on the head tab? IS that because ether are only 2 mm or is it a brand thing. I think my Xcel would never come of that way and needs to be removed left arm first and thats my crap shoulder. Some mornings i really struggle to get it off.

Are all brands similar

JB - chest zips - should take you about 10 goes to work out the technique and for the seams to loosen up a bit. If you are still having trouble after 10 goes I am afraid there is nothing anyone can do to your help you

Nah its more after three years Its only since i busted my right shoulder, as to have the strength to pull it out with my arm since the accident is difficult. Do the chest zips with the straight across zip allow you to remove either arm..If i could change which arm comes out first it would be easier..Preferably with out having to wear my wetsuit backwards
