Does anyone know if this type of handle is available in Aust.

Designed for people with short arms (yeah yeah..and long pockets) or wide boards.

I got a board which is a bit uncomfortable to carry any distance further than 200 mtrs ..I just know this short arse will drop it.
The pic is Linda Bensons rail grabber but think it's only in the USA.

If you can't find one, and you can get your hands on a nice bit of old webbing around 2 metres long, you could probably knock something out in less than a half an hour. Particularly if you're lucky enough to find a bit of webbing with a loop already in one end.

I used this one when I had to carry my 10.6 munoz long distances, it was not worth steeling so no one ever lifted if from the beach while I was out.

About the only other things you'll need to make one are:

A way to make the holes and seal the webbing at the same time- I use a soldering iron
Some way to secure another loop at the other end if you want to make the sling adjustable - I used and old Karabiner

It takes around a half a nano second to get the point of balance right, and even if you don't get it perfect, one had on the broad is enough to keep it balanced.

I've got something you can borrow to see if it's what your after, used it on my wide board until I snapped it

Install a 666 handle - function over form. I promise not to laugh at you when I see you walking down the beach

Funny you say that Ted..

Many years ago I was talking to Bob Cooper and he was getting..how shall I put it..."generous in proportion"....and needed a wider board, and he said that's what he was going to do. The thought stuck with me and at least you don't have to take a towel etc down to disguise the Rail Grabber if used.

Hi all i looked into one of the ones they advertise in plb ,tried to email them but to no avail as i have a 23 inch board and 22 inch arms ,I came a cross a guy who makes these slings on gumtree cost me 20 bills but better than struggling with the board down the side of hills and trying not to drop it ,havent really used them yet but have tried them out sem ok made from calico webbing so fairly soft the one in the picture looks good pity no one makes them here in aus

Well just bought one of those rail grabbers 33.00 free postage from the U.S last forever i rekon might help with walking down staircases on the cliffs rather than hoiking it onto my shoulder like a oregon beam

Thats the way I carry my 10 footer - although I don't have paddle and release the leggie so I don't trip up and end up on kookslams

Hi all well my rail grabber arrived today from the U.S seems like a fairly good strong piece of gear that will have a place in my bag with my sling ,probably not for long walks but good enough for a short walk down stairs rather than maybe dropping your board good product .

Yeah they work well 1960..Much better than on the hip/head for 300 mtrs.

Know what you mean Pup..but dropping your board on a hard surface i.e. carpark is a $50 repair straight up..so you hide them in your towel along with the Playboy mags and whatever....
That said any **bag can go through your stuff while you're out getting a few.

Yea unfortunately it seems now there are many scumbags around ,my uncle left his watch and wallet rolled up in his towel along with his mates .Some lowlife thought he would like it, didnt realize he was so close to the waters edge gave chase and gave him a touch up for his troubles dont think he will do it again.

So gentleman of the wide board club, i have a question.

I am a light weight so just trying to understand the board widths you boys are running. Is it just a stability thing? Or purely just trying to pack more float into them..
My normal LB is about 22.5 and i see some up over 24..
SO Why so wide..

I'd think the wider you went the harder to pick up waves as a narrower board would paddle quicker then a wider board..

And then when on the wave it would go rail to rail easier the thinner it is.

Just interested in why you ride what you ride.
