Surfed like a really old fat man this morning. From the first 10 min it did not feel good and was stuffed after 30min. Gotta get fit and gotta drop some kg's.
2nd surf in 19wks after ankle surgery and I felt like a kook... whilst I have done a reasonable amount of swimming and just re-started cycling, I gained about 4kg over the 4 months and the 'surf fitness' has all but gone...
It didn't help that it was a 4/10 day and maximum crowd...
It's hard not to get frustrated... Oh well - will try again next weekend

Thanks Mac - finding it hard to drop the weight with an ankle that still complains when pushed... even went off the grog for a month ... gotta keep trying tho' - love surfing too much to give up... came back after 10 months out following a broken back 13yrs ago, so I know it's just a matter of putting in the time in the water... [trouble is I was a lot fitter 13yrs ago]. Cheers
^^^ I was on crutches and couldn't do any exercise at all - so thought I'd better lay off the liquid carbs...
And BTW Mac - plenty more injuries than just the back and ankle... been through casualty a few times... mostly all from cycling and skateboarding in younger days... (right up until mid 30's when I thought I should probably slow down a bit - or find myself dead). Only been in the back of an Ambulance once tho'
