SP said..Guess it depends what you call performance?
Their longboards after all, if you don't trim them and move around then you are hardly performing. If anything you are an underperforming shortboarder

So singles I guess could be the most performance orientated fin in a way.
Personally I think It has more to do with the bloke riding it
then the fin. Eg Joel Tudor on a single vs 99. 99 % of the bloke that ride quads

Agree sorta sp... tudor would make us all look stupid
My thoughts on quads and longer boards. (Swellnet or somebody wrote something about kooks and had a piece on quads that us close to my thoughts)
I don't like thrusters on my mids. I find you have to be a good surfer to benefit from three fins. As in you have to keep the board constantly moving to get a benefit out of it
With such a long rail i find it a pain to pump the board, compared to using that added rail to beat sections and find it a smoother (easier) ride.
I like a single more than three fins on a mid, yet a quad still gives me that nice stability, I don't have to pump to stay on the wave, I can't surf the pocket on a mid or longboard anyway so the ability to hit the lip at 12 o'clock does not even matter, so three fins is wasted. I prefer a flatter board and the ability to pop up anywhere, and a quad allows bad foot placement, three fins dont
this is where my dilemma, and wanting to experiment comes into play.
My hp longboard is nuts as a thruster, but i prefer the way maca set it up for me . Two big fins and a small trailer (not a effing twin with a trailer) over the three fins being the same size
I'm having typing fatigue.. need a break
