Epoxy boards i'm a big fan of the Tolly 9'6'' shouldn't have sold it also like the Tolly 9'1'' and jye Byrnes but too heavy for the last 2

I had the Tolhurst 9'1 and it was a great board. I had a PU quad off Billy Tolhurst about 5 years ago and he was telling me he rides the tufflite model of his own 9'1. I thought that was a bit unusual but he preffered it in tufflite to PU.
I rode heaps of different tufflite models and was lucky I know the surftech distributor down here in Wollongong and he used to let me try them all out without having o pay every time.
There were some good boards in there and they are very durable against heel dents and bums withou a doubt. In the end though I went back to PU because I like a bit of weight in a longboard a I can get a custom. Its horses for courses really and people can ride what ever they like.

Sorry - it was an ignorant first LB purchase, and I was unaware that you could still get the OZ ones here... won't happen again

Did that with a Hot Brez (Chinese made) board and on the weekend whilst duck diving put my finger through it

^^ Yea mate, I take it out when its nice and clean. Its only a 6,3 so generally up to four foot but I recon it could handle bigger. If it is bigger I use the LSD, its a 6,5 and the best board I own.

Gotta be careful you don't tar everything with the same brush here 62Mac. I hope your anti GSI sentiments are restricted to their McTavish boards, which are slightly lighter glassed than the Byron made boards.
Cos if you want to hear a good word about GSI boards, just ask Billboard. He just posted that he loves GSI's NSP boards.
And you will get plenty of supporters for GSI's 7S Superfish range (in PU and Epoxy) - just check the heaps of positive comments on their website or from guys who actually ride them (like i do). Disclosure - we sell more of these than any other boards (and for good reason).
We have had a 7'3 Superfish demo in epoxy for about 2 1/2 years now and its been ridden/thrashed more than any other demo. And i reckon i could clean it up to look like new (apart from a minor ding when it fell off a car roof - try doing that with a PU!). They are heavier than normal epoxy and just about bullet proof!
GSI also produce Webber and Aloha shortboards under licence and will soon be doing Hayden Shapes.
I guess as with any business or manufacturer there are things GSI does really well and not well. So just do as we do and pick the eyes out of it and learn by experience - Mark.

One word will KILL this threat!

Custom

As a Mct fan it sucks that they have aligned themselves with GSI,I've never heard a good word about GSI boards no matter what brand.

Rewind a few years ago Noosa longboards took delivery and I happened to be in town.
JC was working the shop that day and after cruising back to my unit I dropped in and saw this Mct I asked what is this a new model? JC said no mate its a Fireball,FM the tail shape was all wrong, lost me from the start.

Smell the resin boys, as dotcom said keep it locally made and as Makaha would say, keep it real.

Nsp construction is way way way different to other gsi epoxy and pu construction though hey ! AND nsp boards are at a whole different price level as well. Its a shame though that an nsp board will literally last you for life and a board thats half as much again has a very questionable life span

Talking about tuflites and the like though - in my opinion the board that should have gone into the surftech range but never did was the McT Eightball. It would have been the biggest selling tuflite longboard in the world - hands down.

And eskys - like tuflite surfboards are an essential part of every surfers weekend requirements

I have the GSI 7S SuperFish 7'3" in PU and it is my 'daily' board and has had heaps of use over the last 3yrs... it dings no more than any other PU board I have had in the last 30yrs... and I'd happily buy another tomorrow... in fact I'm waiting for them to update their website with the new models...

Unfortunatelty, the McT GSI is a different story altogether... apart from the deck compression the amount of flex in a 9'1" board is a bit disconcerting. I reckon if I nosed it off a 2ft wave into the sandbank there'd be a 95% chance it'd come up in two pieces.

Since my post on snapped epoxy GSI Waldens a few weeks ago I bought an slx Walden. Carbon rails are great but deck dented after first surfs. We have glass Waldens in the family as well and the GSI glassing is definely inferior to local glass jobs.
