I am trying to understand what would be a good next board for me to get when I master my 8' superfish (probably next year in reality). I am no athlete and do not expect to be anytime soon, so definitely not looking to a shorty, but maybe a reasonably big gun (inspired by Simondo's choice) would compliment my big fish? I am thinking a bit smaller than Simondo's but not too small. Something for bigger waves, I guess you would not have to catch the wave as early compared to the big (fat) fish (with very small rocker)? Thoughts?

Any guesses as to what I would suggest

Simondo's board will real fun were he surfs but you would be best to stay clear of the gun type boards imo.

Your around 90 kgs if I recallGo for a 901 x 22 3/4 x 3 this will be a wave hog machine for you.I'm not a fan of the round nose boards so go for a tucked in nose.

I know your suggestion is a classic for good reason mac, but I think my current option can catch small waves easily. In time I would add a 901 to the quiver but thought I would need something narrower and more streamlined for bigger days.

UFO & Razor, thanks Spaz

Mate skip all that and save money at the same time,go straight a 901 to 904 and see how MORE fun your going to have,as I said Simondo surfs Bells a long walled wave and his gun will be perfect there.

About to take Lime Slice out for a run or the Redline

Mac, do you think the fish will be neglected if I get a 901? They like the same conditions don't they? Can only surf one board at a time

Go for an EvoII with a sharpened up nose.

Down here, we consistently get clean waves around double overhead, and plus. So I get the opportunity to ride the bigger boards a bit.

Actually towball, I don't think the fish is holding me back at all, being an 8footer and so wide it has plenty of float. I can prevent it from pearling pretty well now, just a matter of improving reading the waves and fitness, fitness, fitness.

If I had started on a smaller fish I would agree completely.

I like the look of the UFO's and redline's. Steve Del Rosso makes a good board as well, probably going to put in an order for one for the girlfriend just having a hard time defining pretty blue.
