I recall a story I was reading once about Mark Rabbige, he said he once had this killer board that surfed like a dream and had amazing power and feedback, one day he hit a turn or a lip really hard and heard a distinct noise in the board that he had never heard before, like a bang or a crack.

the board never broke and for all intents and purposes, it still looked like a perfectly good board, but from that day onwards, it never surfed the same. He put it down to the loss of the inherent flex with the original structure of the board.

Wow Ok, interesting. Rabbige is pretty onto it..

A mate and myself were discussing flex and fancied that on a longboard there is probably more happening because of sheer length alone.

Its how boards work god dam it

If you surf you flex your board

I agree with that 100%

Its definatly more of a consideration of guns and LB's than it would be on shorty's I reckon....my anecdotal evidence is that there would also be a diffenerce between and PU and epoxy

It's my understanding that the thick wooden stringer as demonstrated in this photo provides significant lateral flex properties.

With this particular model as its made incrementally longer, you will find the wobblier it gets, the wobble is what we refer to as flex. However no one has yet been able to pin point precisely the point where the wobble is generated (peak wobble apex)

In summary the shorter this model the less wobblier it is and the longer the model the wobblier it gets.

.....Ok you get one hit and your not allowed to break anything

Nope but it was 5'10" !

Only touching those Nano's in FST - I think the 6'0" is my preferred size in that range

Epoxy 5'10" Not sure about the deck grip - its had one lady owner - not a dent to be seen - pretty much looks brand new. Stoked. Been looking to replace the Sweet Potato for a while now so it was nice to finally find something very close to what I was after. Nice price. Bargain.

Yeah you but you forgot their expensive pop outs.. The FW retail price has been reduced recently though, not sure if anyone else noticed, maybe competition is even hurting the biggest of the brands
