That's was funny mate, 50 bucks that's still a good price I'd think? Lacey I think has dug his heals in and probably laughing at us from the outside anyway those SUB X boards are hot love and peace
I was sitting out the back with some crew the other day. Big lull so a bit of talking..then all of a sudden we could hear these really loud oinking noises.
We are all looking around everywhere to find where the oinking was coming from as it was a ugly sounding pig....
Should have known really,as old mate was paddling out on his subx
You absolute lucky bastard..you mean you surf with the pig of steel..snort" Captain Goodvibes" snort & he rides a subx.. legend man legend (tony edwards) snort!!
Thanks 'broker I'll put that bit of info in the old Funk & Wagnall so I won't forget it.
As to the new subbie, I'm just so over trying to ride closeouts in Sydney ATM so I realised I need divine intervention to ensure the first ride is a good one. So..I've peeled a mango, crushed & mixed the skins & seed, thrown the holy paste at the dunny wall so I can read the "new board" agueries of when I should take it out. Cue "the twilight zone" theme......I'm reading... "Don't take it out unless surf is good", or is that "get it in the water fknuckle".....No No I got it....."computer says NO".... S--T, gotta mix a new batch, I add some beer this time (to me & paste)...I'll get to ya..!
Just thought i'd add this little review of the Subx.
This is one I had shaped for my neighbor as a gift in return for architectural design he's done for our house, and I would add that Andy is a pretty good old school shortboarder who's lived and surfed on the QLD/NSW surf coast as well as NW Tasmania. Andy knows boards and has a collection of about 30-40 boards... I'm pretty sure, as you might gather, that the SubX is the new fave
I would also add that Andys has been shaped a little different to mine coming from a SB Vs coming from the LB.
The below is an email from Grant Miller/Andy

Hi Grant
Just wanted to give you some feedback on the 7.0 SubX you shaped for me.
Firstly thank you for the care and passion you put into your boards .
There is a lot going on with the detail in these and the finish is superb.
At 50 i need volume for paddling but want all that foam to disappear after takeoff.
That is where this board truly surprises. I was expecting a lazy mini mal like ride but the subx was driving itself down the face on take off, with phenomenal acceleration through bottom turns and then going rail to rail like a short board. Even on more critical take offs the bottom rail combo maintain a fast, light neutral feel. There's no stall off the top and remains well mannered when bouncing off the whitewater. We all like to think we got that special board but reading the testimonials of others suggests its this design.
Grant Miller you sorcerer, there is some serious magic going on here.

Surfer:50/90kg/5'11" Board:7'0" X 23 1/8" x 3 3/16" 2 plus 1 version.
Note from Grant Miller: This board was ordered as a gift for Andrew by one of his friends. His friend already has a SUBX which Andrew had ridden, and so using my design records it was not difficult to build him a very similar board. Andrew's comments really describe the SUBX beautifully.
Hi Andrew, it seems we got it right for Andy eh? He seems totally stoked and so appreciative. Best to you mate.
Grant.

And a pic...
Great stuff Andy - stoked your mate loves his board as much as you and big ups to you for the donation of a wicked custom board as a thank you for something they did out of shear generosity. Nice stuff
Looking at those dimensions it just blows me away. Especially the thickness factor. Hope to have a crack on your one one day soon to get an idea of how these things go. They sound too good to be true
