I'm thinking of getting a secondhand longboard and was wondering what people think of these boards
I currently ride a Wayne Deane shaped longboard (9'6 x24" 1/2 x19x16 x3"1/16) and want something that's a bit faster, easier to turn and can cope with late take off better.
I have been back surfing for about a year after a 10-year layoff due to kids etc and am really enjoying it.I was thinking of getting a fish style shortboard but I don't think my lower back will cope very well hence the thought of getting a higher performance longboard`
I weigh 80kg and have just joined the over 50's club. I mainly surf on the Sunshine coast (Brisbane)
Any feedback appreciated

I've had a few McT's and my opinion is you can't go past a Fireball, the're a great all rounder and at your weight maybe a 2nd hand 8'6" - 9' might be the go..
Good Luck.

The Trimmer is an old model indeed if you are looking at McTavish yes the fireball but if you go to the Gold Coast there is a good shaper in Currimbin

What are you talking about Asea has owned every board made by every shaper. The McTavish Evo is the board you need.

Hey dude,

Great to hear your back in the water and enjoying it...

Personally, as a real point of difference, and given your weight experience etc i'd look at a bigger fish or (my preference) a nice 8'ish egg type mid.

I'd have a chat to one of the awesome local shapers and get something really dialed in... often you spend a bit more on the board but you get something thats bang on instead of buying a few boards that are not quite right... but thats just my 5c... #supportyourlocalshaper

Otherwise, check this Vouch, looks unreal and Vouch boards are really high quality...

Best of luck too ya

Is the Trimmer an earlier version of the Fireball as they look very similar in their shape.

Way back the trimmer was the machine today the evo is state of the art, the trimmer pfff it's onky 9.1 not what your looking for my friend. 80 kegs go for a 9.1 9.3 or 9.6 evo they will take your surfing to the next level. Ask Asea he wants one.
