I'm thinking of getting a secondhand longboard and was wondering what people think of these boards
I currently ride a Wayne Deane shaped longboard (9'6 x24" 1/2 x19x16 x3"1/16) and want something that's a bit faster, easier to turn and can cope with late take off better.
I have been back surfing for about a year after a 10-year layoff due to kids etc and am really enjoying it.I was thinking of getting a fish style shortboard but I don't think my lower back will cope very well hence the thought of getting a higher performance longboard`
I weigh 80kg and have just joined the over 50's club. I mainly surf on the Sunshine coast (Brisbane)
Any feedback appreciated

Hey dude,

Great to hear your back in the water and enjoying it...

Personally, as a real point of difference, and given your weight experience etc i'd look at a bigger fish or (my preference) a nice 8'ish egg type mid.

I'd have a chat to one of the awesome local shapers and get something really dialed in... often you spend a bit more on the board but you get something thats bang on instead of buying a few boards that are not quite right... but thats just my 5c... #supportyourlocalshaper

Otherwise, check this Vouch, looks unreal and Vouch boards are really high quality...

https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/bilinga/surfing/vouch-daily-double-single-fin-midlength/1206979320

Best of luck too ya

That board looks alright. But the price is too much. If you can get it cheaper

Cw boards gold coast usually have second hand long boards in the shop. Be worth contacting

Ok Lacey how many Mctavish have you had and do you think you ride them better than Macaha?

Who are you, you fiendish fellow

Im not starting ww3

What sort of price do the Trimmer boards sell for?
Not sure if my surfing ability warrants paying for the latest and greatest

Price is subjective but personally I wouldn't pay more then a few hundred, maybe 400 if I was super keen.
It's an old board, looks like it is pretty cooked by the sun, lots of yellowing.

Something like this could be a good option. The Jason blewitt designs are nice shapes that surf really well.

Like others have said the Trimmer is a very old model and in good nick prob still have to pay $450-500 but it will be a good starting point and if it doesn't suit sell it on Gumtree/Ebay and you wont loose much if anything.

The cheaper popouts at Sideways and the like will do the job for you at much the same price + $150ish
Bite the bullet..Buy the Trimmer

Nose Trimming is an important part of Longboarding.

Sorry Kev, the tolhurst is a good looking shape but if it's damaged might be best to avoid it. But it would be pick of the shapes you posted for what you are after.

Hey kev i have the same model fire ball as the yellow one on gtree .. great board was my daily go to .. a good allrounder that handles anything but prefers sucky steep points or beachies you can get to the nose on fast sections but there are other models that will nose ride better like the Pinnacle ,
