I will say having never personally visited Bells, i will confess id love to see it before a resort is built on the cliffs
Surfrider has been working on this for a long time JB. Gutted
Its a ****ing disgrace...but its pales in comparison to some of the other **** the council has passed...the rate of new developmnets vs the amount of new infrastrucure is appalling.....another two years at the rate its going and we will be another Geelong suburb
Very very sad about this Tux. I have been doing the little bit I can but to no avail.
A similar thing on a smaller scale is happening on the Sunshine Coast. A major developer is pushing the crap out of council to get a development going at Yaroomba beachfront, there is an approval in place that the community resolved with Lend Lease when they were the owners. All parties are happy with this.
The new owner wants more , they are having their second go at getting the Town Plan changed to suit their wants.
The problem in these cases is that certain councillors are in the developers pockets and are looking at their futures so they are pro what certain companies want. They actually campaign or facilitate these matters.
I am not against development at all, we need jobs , we need services etc etc but it needs to be done correctly and all of the community needs to benefit not just the companies seeking mega profits.
