Understandably far from a positive response in feedback from the surfing community.

It's farkin ****ty...

Am I that old??
I remeber the days when being a surfer meant knowing where to be and when to be there.. And finding that out meant lots of miles and time but the rewards were worth it..

Surfcam and wanna surf dicks like that guide have meant that is long gone..

Wouldn't even know what a synoptic chart is..

You are so on the money SP.

There's a whole movement nowadays that just want to fast track everything from learning to surf to getting to the surf. Noone reads weather charts, looks to the sky and cloud formations, notices currents, water temperature, sand movements etc to decide where they're going to surf anymore, they don't have to and these are skills that helped make a surfer a good surfer in my opinion, knowing where to be when. And like you say it came at the cost of miles and time and that was some of the best times, the journey. Now this person is happy to gather what she can package it all up to make it even easier than it already is to get to some of these spots, some of which still enjoy a crowdless mid week session every now and then. Some of them can be a bit tricky at times too and the type of audience she has I'm guessing people will know just enough to be dangerous, meaning being competent enough to get out to the line up but not to manage it if that makes sense? Bloody sad. Should be the death penalty.......shouldn't it??? Or is that a little harsh?

Guaranteed open dialogue if acting like dicks

There's some surfers in the film crew etc that have been down here before for other productions and they're all cruisey and respectful. I'm Sure Ruffles and Shanno will be happy to fling him into a couple at the right if he's keen

This is a good write up on surfboard design..

Over the coming months Swellnet and Jesse Watson at Black Apache Surfboards have set themselves a goal: to take all the mystery out of your surfboard. In a series of weekly articles Jesse will shine a light on each feature of your surfboard until no corner of it is left in darkness. He'll also offer other insights along the way, such as having honest expectations and how to read from the same page as your shaper.

Thanks SP that is why I love seabreeze Id never have stumbled on those articles otherwise fantastic interesting read gets you thinking about where surfboard design will go, I think asymetrical shapes will come to the fore rather than being an alternative.thanks for the link

Those boaties still suck Mac

Loved this line SP

but now the amount of jerk offs that are 10 day suppers, and SUP, because they can't or couldn't surf any other way is sickening. These 'loose stools' have no idea about surfing etiquette and reckon they're good surfers because they are on these fun boards that give them an unfair advantage They snake, drop in and my personal favorite surfing up where the lip is breaking in a straight line in poo stance.

A lot of people would agree with what the guy said

It annoys me when I see guys in their 20's & 30's on big boaty 666'ers out in good conditions constantly getting in the way. I have no problem with them when its small or if the guys an old ex shortboard or longboard rider with a truly bad back. But I look at these young guys & have to bite my tongue from asking them what is wrong with them, why are they riding a SUP.

So . . . according to his story, it wasn't his fault that he got into a few car accidents that eventually led to his arm getting ripped off; the ambulance workers tried to kill him; and all people on Kauai are dumb and out to get him? Poor guy.

Wow Tux - love the call !

I would hate to see surfing at the Olympics - but I guess it will happen one day - I mean why the farrrrk are Golf and Tennis there? Surely the majors are the more important trophies in those sports - but we can easily guess why - its money. No doubt surfing is feeling the same. But realistically are these blokes representing all surfers or just their immediate self interest? The only upside I can see is that we get there before the 666 mob if you were that way inclined. Personally rather it never happened.
