Hi Guys, I've been reading a lot of the threads here and have gained some great information. I wanted to ask.. I'm looking to buy a McTavish Fireball, I've been talking to these guys; http://www.surferschoice.com.au/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=ilvm_fly_showroom_mall.tpl&product_id=102&category_id=82&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=41 - are these boards likely to be one of those Thai copies? Should i worry if it is?

Also, I'm 90kgs, been surfing for a year, and surf mostly beach breaks (1ft - 4ft) around the Central Coast NSW (Umina, Avoca etc)

Would a 9'2" Fireball be a good choice, or a McTavish Original perhaps? Lastly, I'm overcoming a bad shoulder injury and can barely paddle to save my life right now, I can just get onto a wave with my 8' minimal but its dam hard work. So I'm looking for something that is easy to paddle, but also has some turning ability.

Thanks,

Scott.

REALLY

Welcome aboard Scott, looking for an easier paddler and you surf beach breaks a board that turns on a dim look no further than
the Mctavish Vuelo a much better board than the fireball your looking at,go for 9.1 x 23 x 3 for and easy paddle @ 90 kegs. The
boards in the link are popouts they are fine but not the model you require.Go a factory board from Byron off the rack or custom
same price $1449 rrp.A little more than the link prices but you will be more stoked with the out come.Get on the phone ask for
Dave or Ben Wallace they will have you sorted in no time.Don't be afraid to ask for some freebies,a couple of tees or something else.

Oh and don't mention Chrispy's name they will change you double, the mct boys lurk in here from time to time

I will.disagree with Mac here. With a bung shoulder and wanting a easier paddle I would stick with the fireball.

The fireball will give you way more paddle power and will.still turn really well,it is a longboard after all. imo you will struggle on a big rockered board for ease of paddling. The benefits of turning will far be outweighed by the paddle power you will gain. And the fireballs do turn well.

Or you could go speak to your local shaper who would be super stoked to help you out.

Hey Hollywood hope your well.....

Thanks guys, I spoke to the McTavish factory today, they said much the same thing as you Chrispy - the Fireball is probably the best choice given my situation. They rated the above mentioned boards as follows;

- Fireball Evolution - V6
- Fireball Evolution II - V8
- Vuelo - Ferrari

As a car nut, this was an analogy i could easily understand.

hi
if you want something local i would recommend giving Tony Irwin at image surfboards a call, have a chat with him and he can make pretty much anything you want, www.imagesurfboards.com.au/ , he is currently making me a 10 footer, but alot of other guys ride his boards and i haven't heard a bad thing about them, they are also a little bit cheaper, just throwing it out there to consider

62Mac, Blair - looks like I'll have to get up to Goldie sometime and surf with you guys.

What really pisses me is when somebody asks a question, and whether we think it has been done before,or whether we think it is boring, this room will always welcome them and to our best knowledge answer the question. Yes even you're stupid one big spazz.
So if New peeps see your stupid popcorn pics, which originally I thought was funny, then realised you were a dumb arse know it all troll, that is what will stop New peeps posting. We don't care who anyone :s in here, geez I'm here. That's why most new people will post, because whether it has been answered before or not, we just. Want peeps to be a part of it. So yes big spazz you did offend me with your name calling, but hey that sums you up not me. I'm quite happy to back myself :n the real world and not just the internet. I have read your threats before of what you will do to people in the Surf, and your confrontations in the Surf with people. Geez it was not long ago you bagged a pro longboarder then sucked right up his arse in a instance to be cool. So post up all your stupid pics and be a smart arse without substance, and make new peeps uncomfortable with newly questions. And if you see me in Byron well let's just see hey.
