Is killing it in South Africa. The more he speaks the better he plays. Lets hope they do not try to tame him. I find him very refreshing in the new world of media advisors and boring responses.

Alex Dolan should not come in at #3 as he scores far to slow and if you really want to intimate the opposition then you need someone to go on with it. He should bat further down the order and Clark should man up and put himself further up.

Thats exactly my point - its refreshing to have an idiot at the controls again rather than the "we played well but were beaten by a better team" or "it just wasn't our day today' or "if we had won the toss things would have been different" At least he backs it up with results. I hear ya though as he makes me cringe a lot and I am not even Australian

he did well in test 1 and went missing in 2 but seems to have come back for this game - lets hope he is on song later today.

Or maybe he can bat a lot.
I just wish if he wants to average 60, he could get 60 every time.
Not 120 then zero.
Keeps coming back to " Not a test batsman"

2 centuries and 3 fifties in this series and looking like 3 centuries. His performances the last 2 series are incredible. Prior to that I would have to agree. But the thing with him is that if he gets runs he gets them quickly and that increases the probability of Australia winning - massively. He is a match winner when he is on song. It seems to me that he is improving his consistency big time at the moment.

Interesting commentary from cricinfo

12.30pm Lunch now. An intriguing first session comes to an end with Australia leading by 387 by the end of it. It's how they got there that intrigues me. They began, as expected, going hell for leather and pulverised the attack with an opening partnership of 123 in 20.2 overs. Then, all of a sudden, the whole intensity was gone. For starters, Alex Doolan came in to bat at No. 3. He didn't look in any uncharacteristic hurry, which is still okay, but David Warner too began to pad and kick everything away. As a result, we have had an unbeaten partnership of 57 in 22.4 overs. Warner was 75 off 57 when Rogers got out; he is 92 off 111 now. Was there a message sent out through Doolan? To make it more intriguing, towards the end of the session, Lehmann, Warne and Clarke were seen in an animated discussion. Lehmann clearly didn't look happy with something. Let's see what happens in session two, but if South Africa are eight down at stumps tomorrow, will Australia look back at the last 22 overs in anger?

6 wickets to go hopefully we get them nice and early...the longer it drags on tomorrow the harder its going to get...love David Warners big mouth...I'm just glad he's sitting down in teh press conferences casue he clearly doesn't have enough brain cells to walk and talk at the same time....

I was watching parts of that 1st session... Warner was stuck on 91 FOR EVER!... Doolan actually made about 20 runs, while Warner was stuck on 91!

Here are the stats of the most number of runs in a 3 test series - and DW is right up that list now. Also he is now the highest run scored in South Africa in a 3 test series. And of course he is still a plunker - a very consistent one

Seriously boys....MJ. Has been one of Australia's biggest disappointments until the ashes series....and everybody freaked out.

I think Ted was spot on with his appraisal. I'm happy he was proven wrong....I'm pissed off that Johnson has not been able to do this for his whole career.... As I love watching the fear, damage(both physically and psychologically) to those not wearing the baggy green

Test batsmen help their teams win matches..
I reckon Warners falls into that category, he can score quickly and just take the game away from the other team. sure he isn't a classic test batsmen but then test aren't like they used to be either.

The problem is if he fails it looks bad usually but IMO you just have to take the good with the bad and hope he succeeds more than he fails. He also needs support from the middle order, if he fails the middle order need to stand up. But our middle order has had real trouble doing that lately.

Edit ...

And He should shave the mo, he looks like Ned Flanders

The Aussies were paying 50 to 1 for a 5 nil Ashes whitewash prior to first test.
Imagine the odds of all up into winning test series in SA

Yeah what's the point of the Internet if you can't push your opinions from behind a screen of keyboard anonymity.

But great summer for the Aussies, dominated the poms and beat SA at home.

Talk about an Australian ability to see black humour in the extremes of serious situations....Weiry, without the gravity of the situation and the seriousness taken into consideration, can I say, I must admit to having a chuckle at the other way to interpret your comments....
