Good thread.

After seeing the magical shapes of Lfish and chatting with the boys at PP i have decided that I am going to make my next board. It will be my first effort so I shall be going with something that is fairly straight forward with not too much fancy stuff thrown in. It will be around the 9'5" in length (as I have a cover that size in the garage) * 23 * 3 ish - will ultimately depend on how good I am at the sanding!

I have always been a bit whimpy when it comes to making my own board but Sharpie said he will help me out with the glassing so I am feeling a bit happier now. I will begin the enquiries tom to see how much it will be to source a blank - otherwise I will do what LFish did and source and old refrigeration unit and use the poly from that. Should be a lot cheaper that way as well.

If you have any templates that you think might be of interest feel free to send them through The board will be used for 0 - 3ft clean and glassy conditions. I am hoping for a decent bit of glide whilst still being able to turn it and get to the nose....sounds like I should just buy one of those Mct's that Mac always goes on about. But alas this is a building project. I shall post some picks as I go a long.

Hey Ted cant wait to see this if you use old fridge foam will the board be stringerless and if so is the foam as dense as the stuff they use for surfboards or will you glue a stringer into it

No pics yet Boofy but I have just been down to check out some foam and enquire to have the machine touch up a blank for me. Great price. Looks like it will be of similar shape to a Takayama Model T 9'4" * 23 * 3. Two week wait on the blank so hoping to put the order in later this week. Just need to clear it with the Minister of War that I shall be taking over the garage for a few weeks.
