There's been some swell, but not too favourable on the winds...
But hey, the surfers had made the most of it... Longs waits for the best waves that wall up really nicely, so sometimes the surfers have been left chasing that good quality "back-up" score...
But all in all, the highlights have been pretty bloody good, considering the unfavourable winds...
You know what, the modern McTavish Tracker goes really nicely in there conditions... I think I would prefer to watch a shoot out on Trackers!... :) At solid Bells...

How long is longer though? Some were riding 6'1"'s yesterday when it was bigger and some were on 5'7"s. That's a massive percentage increase 8.955% . It's all about perspective !! Lol

Big difference its like my 3 or my 3 1/8 boards Yeah got to laugh at yourself
Ted the Kiwi said.. 1/8 across a 10 footer is actually a lot of volume !!
Thank you Simondo these dicks in here wouldnt have it,good to see you know
You could argue that its like a yacht - they get bigger in middle not the ends. So on the same principle a board gets bigger through its mid point of its fatness and not the deck or the bottom.

Mac, don't make me bust out a pic of me on along wall, with a long rail! ;) LoL! .. ...
And he looked much better for it. He also rides a much thicker standard board by all accounts - the commentators keep going on about it What they should really be focussing on is the relationship between his weight and the volume compared to surfer A's weight and board volume - if you want a like for like comparison (assuming similar outlines / shapes).
Jordy is a gun surfer! Even though everyone on tour is awesome, Jordy is pure awesomeness! Seems like a fun bloke, but capable of busting some big moves, mixed in with some old school pure power surfing! Jordy is a fan favourite!
John John's aerial 360's are epic... But now I've seen him do 5 or six between Bells and Winki, it's becoming slightly 1 dimensional ... Sorry John John if this sounds critical... Because you do surf unreal!
Kelly is still great, but he is starting to lack that X-Factor that he had... He is less willing to lay everything on the line, and bust those massive moves like he used to... But he's still a favourite of mine to watch through the Bells Bowl... He sniffs out barrels, and lays down nice controlled power. Precision...
For my money, the best 4 Bells Bowl surfers are; MP Kelly Curren; and Occy.
In that order... Parko and Fanning are pretty much walk up starts to my 5th and 6th spots...
Ross Clarke Jones and Jordy for 7th and 8th...
I'm just thinking out loud...
Ross's old school power is timeless at Bells.
Dane Reynolds and Maurice Cole for 9th and 10th...
Some beautiful waves. I don't know about this no-knockout Round 4 format though. They get a second chance after the first round. Should be sudden death at this stage of the comp. All the same - looking forward to the Mick, Jordy and young gun heat up next.
SP said.. Oh and another thing, has anyone ever seen anything lamer then the WSL selling those Jersey..
Oh yes SP - I thinking exactly the same as you on them. Terrible in my eyes. I only have one surf related comp shirt - its now 6 years old and almost toast but I still wear it "Eddie would go" Make sure you get one over there - only place you can get them - unless on-line.
