The Bali Diaries, I'm so stealing that for next Bali thread GWAtto, cheers mate.....truth is I do write these daily blogs as much for myself,as I do for friends back home who lurk here & anyone else who cares to read my rambles. Same with my youtube channel, I enjoy creating content even if I don't share it like the 30 something unlisted video's on my youtube channel. For me its something I can go back to later & refresh my memories. I don't expect everyone to be interested. These blogs are an expression of my favourite type of post on the breeze. Pics & tales related to surfing, if anyones not into that, no worries. There's a button up the top right there, press it & create the type of content you like. No one is stopping you

Ok well you guys probably know the drill by now & I won't expand too much. Please see above for further details lol.....ate chicken with rice & noodles, checked the surf at a couple of vantage points. It dropped from yesterday. Felt tired & sore, opted for a visit with Dr Komang. Bought some gifts for friends/family back home. Checked the surf & by this time it was an hour past the high tide. Looked really fun, so went back to wash massage oil off.

I grabbed the 6'0 Hypto shape thinking it looked about head & 1/2 fat waves crumbling down the reef nicely. Took the boat out & found it was head & 1/2 to the occasional triple head with frequent about 18ft face waves bubbling out the back. Wind straight offshore about 5 knts I jumped off the boat at the middle section. There was about 15 people spread along about a 200m stretch & another 10 up at the Southern End of the reef.

As I was paddling up to the outide peak about 30m out from the closest person a set wave came through & I managed to get on it. The outside peak was a big slow crumbler you could late bottom turn & then carve off the top before racing towards another section that would either barrel or give you a nice peak to carve off. I just went racing along & realized too late I could of got a bit of a barrel on that section, it sucked up really nicely. But yeah really fun first wave finishing with a few foam rebounds, top turns & a 200m paddle back to the peak.

Second wave was the same, everyone was way too far inside & I jumped on another set wave as soon as I got back. This one didn't have as big second section so it was just a really nice feeling drawing these big arcing turns off the top of a wave face about triple head for about 100m before tapering off down the line.

Didn't have to wait long for the 3rd wave & it was similar to the first wave so I wanted to try & line up a baz but washed off too much speed delaying my turn & stalling on the peak. It slabbed over & smashed me. I felt myself bouncing on the water inside the barrel before going over the falls & a big tug on my leggy. I got a bit scared coz I suddenly realized I'd brought small conditions leggy, not a normal one. You wouldn't wanna lose a board out there, the foam would take it a third of a K away before you got in to begin looking for it & the sweep would probably steal it away well out of sight before you got a chance to spot it. But anyway I won't go all drama queen on yuz, the board was still with me. But yeah mental note, will havta switch leggys even if its smaller.

I saw a SUP out there on the end section. I'd just hopped off a wave & this bloke was prone paddling his SUP with the paddle under him. He got out past the impact zone & turned around to chase a small one & missed it. Then 3 wide set waves came through & he was gone, I didn't see him again. I'd actually considered taking the longboard out & thought how glad I was that I didn't opt for the longboard. I would of got absolutely smashed.

The wind turned more Southerly after a couple of hours & the tide dropped. It made the takeoffs more difficult with some double up steps, but the triple head sets were very frequent for about 1/2 an hour before the call of the Bintang became too strong. I was literally growling with pain from a cramp on the left side of my neck paddling in on the shortie. But a few beers sorted that out.

Next couple of days are meant to be smaller but I have the Whalebone if I need it, so no worries....cheers

Oh I was starting a new thread called Bang For Buck PC' to join in the fun, but it got moved to Shooting the Breeze. So I'll just copy past it here. Can't be farked typing much today....

Was raining all morning & I had a pretty severe food coma, so I researched components for my new PC build.

It was gonna either be a new coffee lake architecture Intel i3 8100 or an AMD Ryzon 1500X. I decided on the AMD coz motherboards for it are 1/2 the price of the coffee lake supporting mobo's. MSI 350m Bazooka mobo, 16gig of DDR 4 ram & an M.2 SSD 500gig. Already got a 760GTX graphics card, so yeah one very sexy rig she will be

Then I surfed head 1/2 Nusa Dua with 4 other guys out. 2knt current according to a South African Uni student on break with a flash watch that tells you that kinda thing, apparently he paddled 13km in 3 hours. Apart from the current it was a lot of fun, with long smackable walls & the odd little baz. Will probably surf the longboard tomorrow if Magic seaweed is right. But there's a rumour going around the swell is going to pick up, so will do a surf check before strapping a board to the scooter

Should add I not only got a boat out, I caught one back in too. Yep soft I know Left side of my neck was giving me grief again for the last 1/2 hour surfing. Found an energy backup somewhere to wave that boat down like a madman stranded on a desert island, I was stoked to see it....first couple of vodka's didn't work, seems I require more medicine....cheers

Oh mate its currently pissing down over here, I'm hoping like yesterday it stops by 10am & just has the occasional drizzle. Cloudy with the occasional light drizzle is perfect Bali weather for me coz the temp stays just right and you don't get so hammered by the sun. It would be great to meet you, I'll sms you when I'm heading down & details on how to easily find me. I don't usually, but will also take my phone in case you decide to pop over. At least the roads will not be busy today, so would only be 30 mins from the Yak between 0930 & 1700

Still raining here mate & a lot of flooded roads causing traffic congestion in Nusa Dua. Just got back from a massage & there was a sidewalk depth pool of water for as far as I could see down the road from the North side of the golf course.

I'm happy to pop down to Geger for drinks still but will understand if your not keen. Will definately catch up one of day over here given we both get over fairly often

We dont have the power captain...warning warning Will Robinson, no surf tales in todays rambling blahhhhog.

Didn't sleep well last night, left side of my neck was buggered & it didn't feel any better this morning. I finished researching my new PC & for any other PC nerds out there I ordered the following parts. Ryzon 5-1600, Asrock AB350M Pro4 mobo, G Skillz Flare X DDR4-2400 16gig & an M.2 SSD 525gig that I will hopefully be assembling Tuesday.

Had a late brekky & caught up with some young blokes who had surfed Nusa Dua reefie early & said it had the occasional head & 1/2 nicely peeling down the reef for long rides. But the water was brown from all the rain & the boats weren't running. I was entertaining the idea of heading down about now an hour after the high after a massage. But my neck is still very sore, so gonna have to pike. Yep soft I know lol...cracked a beer 5 mins ago & gonna chill this arvo.

Hoping to get a wave tomorrow morning before we head off to the airport at 1530. But can't help feeling like this is pretty much the end of the trip. It hasn't been epic, but its been pretty bloody good. Low crowds, overhead waves and right handers for a change. Didn't get a great deal of footage considering the best waves were about 2km offshore. But I think we got a few decent pics & hopefully enough decent video to put a video together & I'll put them up on the following thread.....cheers

That's no good mate, keep him hydrated with some of that lemon vitamin water, pocari sweat, some immodium if required (loose bowels), mie goreng is nice n lite for food plus some fruit. I'm sure a strong young loke like him will be good to go in no time.

Good stuff, such a great time of year for light variable winds allowing you to surf a variety of places with low crowds
