Just entered Satan's den and enjoyed the thread on Seal's Rocks. Some good footage of nice spot. Surely that should entice a few carloads up to this paradise and annoy a fellow member of the Greenroom.

Lucky his surfing made it look like a straight hander Hard to take anyone too seriously when they stay at that camp ground When I was there a few weeks back there were 3 666s out. all three were nearer the beginners curve than advanced. 2 kept out of harms way - much like where that bloke was taking off - whilst one tried about 30 times to take off by the rocks. After watching his first 3 attempts I decided he was never going to work it out so I spent the rest of the session fulling my boots. It was like stealing candy from a kid. He should have gone wider - I even suggested it - but he knew better

I thought it was a great vid, mostly because I used to surf there a lot in the 70's and 80's.

It was nice to see that it hasn't changed a lot and can still be relatively uncrowded.

Hey Teddie what is the issue with the campground. Used to be a great place to stay.

ET it still is ! Its a ripper of a campground - its just that there is a much better one close by that lets you have an open fire and much better waves. There are not many left in NSW that allow you to do that so when you find one you get excited

The final stretch of dirt road is currently being sealed () that'll open it up to all the yuppies and their 666's. Its only been on the drawing board for about 30 years.

But still sad to see. Back in the early 80's used to go there with a few mates with one of those old circus tents. You know the old canvas jobbies with the 2"thick tent poles inside to hold her up. We'd all camp inside and the rule was no showers for the period of the camp, only the ocean to rinse in.

We used to go back to Newy fairly crusty.

i m a little confused. i have been to seal rocks but only to the back beach i think. i remember the camp manager guy would let you have a look and if you decided to stay , you paid a parking fee- is that right.

can someone fill in the gaps about seal rocks. i have spent some time around pacific palms

i chase waves. i just don't go around the country side looking for them.

instead i have an array of equipment to deal with different types of waves.

mac- rest up, looking like a nw wind weekend. i might hit the back beaches or north end and chase some nano waves.

its been two weeks i haven't surfed that board

Seems lost mate, it's not just about the waves it's about the experience, the trip with mates, the memories created & the lack of crowds while still surfing awesome waves. (That's my take anyway)

P.S. Lacey no fuel costs if you jump in the veedub.

All I am saying is that there are 2 campgrounds there and I prefer the other one !! Simple really.

Stu - those road works are killing me at the moment - the last two visits have involved significant waits for the lights I am guttered that its now being sealed for the same reason as you.

Chrispy - much better places on the coast at the minute than Seals where the banks are crap. Trust me And I am not putting them on here for everyone to see !! CBH is overrated to by the way (trust me - its 15 mins from my house) but its pub from 4-6pm on Wed and Fridays is normally 4-6ft and offshore

Vanders - you sum it up nicely

LL - I like how you tried to reason but I still think its floored With advancements in technology these days the amount of failed trips I make is extremely low. My hit ratio is growing all the time and that means you get well rewarded. You should seriously re-consider and jump in with Chrispy - he can shout you the petrol - if you have a good surf you can buy him a feed on the way home

So what's the problem. That's only seven boards. We managed that on the sunny coast in June. Managed to use most of them too...

Bugger me I am getting slow. It took me about 4 days to work this out. Then only with the help of you guys.

Still like the place though.

Hope the back improves Mac.

Lacey sell aboard and put it toward petrol for a trip.

The only benefit of it being sealed is that I will be able to ride the Ducati down there. I was on a ride with my road bike group and went past the turn off only yesterday. We will be adding it to the ride day calendar from now on. No room for a longboard though

^ yeah, they are giving away all the tips and tricks now.

But seriously it is a beautiful spot but not a great holiday destination the surf is patchy at seals and there usually isn't many banks.

And it's a long way from anywhere is the missus doesn't like the beach.
