Oh yeah some wild old days, but funny all the same.
yeah bro hey, surf n let surf... dont get involved in the trash talk, just keep to myself and go right as much as possible lol..............yewwww.. stay cool man

I'll be sure to check his paddle out next time I see him, once he is on a wave I've seen him call people on waves but I just dont get his form, your either one or the other,I was hopping he was a reader of this forum and chimed in
I'm not qualified to comment on surf stuff, but I'd take the paddle in and stick it in the sand upright. Next time he's out it's not there, but no aggro created - "Thought you lost it"

Mac is a hippster at heart so there is no leg rope for him to use - any other suggestions
Not the guy but have been guilty of doing this on occasion , now I see it as a hazard will make sure i am surfing by myself if and when I do it again and the reason I do it is I like to go back to my roots and have some fun prone paddling and crawling to my knees then clambering to my feet ( the reason I started supping) without the hassle of changing boards to my 9'6 mal that I haven't used for over a year now plus my elbow plays up so I throw the paddle and have a surf simply for fun but I may have done this 3 times out of the hundred or so sessions I have had supping
Is this really even a problem or are you whinging because someone is doing something different? Is he tossing the paddle outside impact or at it, hard to believe you would discard your paddle in the impact zone and then have to search for it every time you catch a wave

Maybe, or it could drift out to sea depending on tide and as I said if it's tossed in the impact zone or outside of impact zone. Have you seen it in a broken wave
so a local in portugal doing this--his proner buddies would point out his paddle to him when he rtned to the lineup after each wave--one time he threw it over a wave, duck-dived the wave with tiny board then collected paddle outside and continued
looked cool by me
seems a similar whine to that of a proner who asked, "what happens to the paddle when you let go of it?"
reply "who knows--i'd have to let go of it to find out"
truth: twice i have let go---once when it was twisted out of my hand, another time when i got crushed so badly i had no idea what had happened to my paddle, just knew it was gone, and i had no drowned---few others to worry about in the water that day! never found that paddle--got beat to shlt proning around the impact zone looking for it--binos from the cliff and saw nothing---now i put colored tape on paddles with my cell number and "call for reward if found".

At the hint of an okish wave coming he throws his paddle and prone paddles onto the said wave, leaving his paddle floating at take off point.
Good or Poor form?
I think poor form, - when I first started sup surfing (two years ago) I would sometimes prone paddle for a good wave with the paddle blade on the nose and the shaft across the board (handle on the right side) then quickly paddle and stand-up and grab the paddle with my right hand, this worked sometimes but I would never throw my paddle (and it is too expensive?:-)

Yes I did the same until an ex seabreeze member gave me a few listens.

Also it is much better to surf with the paddle so you can get more power out of your cut backs & round house cuts (and it would be impossible to do a figure 8 cut back re entry without a paddle to assist :-)
* prone paddles onto a wave * surfs the wave * gets off the wave and then prone paddles back out into the line up again * collects his paddle, * only to through it away again when another wave comes in
WTF??????
Maybe he should try surf board riding instead. Seems to defeat the reason for riding a SUP in my opinion
Personally i would grab the paddle and snap in like a stick using my foot as the fulcrum. But only if he was bothering me enough and had an attitude.......hehehe
