Covert entry under the Spit Bridge this afternoon.
All safe and sound, pre event training run complete.
And now for the rum.....
thanks to John Engel and his team for the great event today. And to the Sydney crew for making us Vicco's welcome. Er, sorry John for railroading your thread with so much rubbish banter. But it was Grenfells fault!??????
Great event thanks to all involved and great to meet the Vicco boys and eveyone else who made the trip!
John Engel, Thank you, organisation and event beyond compare.
Honoured to support it.
Beer and food beyond what we could consume.
Missed raiding Grenfells's shed, but we will be back next year, and let's look at getting it to a full world class event.
Not that it wasn't world class this year.
Had a ball!
Wow!
What a day. Firstly thank you to the over 100 paddlers who turned up from all over the East Coast to race today. I was pretty excited setting the buoys in that rolling swell that was coming through Sydney Heads.
Thankyou to the team who worked tirelessly throughout the day enabling me to concentrate on being on the mic and just focusing on the event. Sam Williams, Suze, Denise and Anita thank you so much.
What can I say about our generous sponsors? From more prizes than we knew what to do with to free beer, wine and food. It was a party on the deck.
Thank you to the elite paddlers. Boothy, Karla, Tim Cyprien Harry Lee and James Van Drunen who flew over the course.
And Boothy! What a legend. Clinics with the adults all day Saturday and then spending all that time with the kids after the race. He can paddle!!!
Tinny and the team at Middle Harbour 16ft Skiff Club were awesome and helped the event run so smoothly. What a perfect venue!
The photos from young photographer Hunter Keys are unbelievable. We'll be posting them on the Face Book page and other media as they come out. This guy kept jumping into 40 metres of water in the middle of the Harbour just to get the shot.
And finally a big thankyou to my family who put up with me disappearing into the office every night for weeks while planning the event.
Now to work out a date for next year where we can get even more of the elite guys to attend.
Well done on the win Micheal Booth.
Congratulations to Andrew Lao for winning the NSP board kindly donated by NSP for the presentation draw.
A great shot by Hunter Keys Photos of Tim Cyprien turning around the mid harbour buoy. Hunter kept jumping out of the boat to put himself in the best photo position. Tim finished 2nd to Micheal Booth.
The burgers on the deck were pretty good post race.
?? John Messenger.
Two dedicated athletes in full training.............
For those who missed out on race shirts a reorder was put in today so we will send you the shirts as soon as they arrive.
John from Gertzel Engineering Surveyors and Adam from Bridgeys' Earth Moving funded the post race fuel and hydration at the presentation. A big thank you guys. Your sponsorship made the event.
NSP were awesome and provided a board for the competitor draw. Andrew Lai was the lucky winner. Thanks Mitch and the crew at NSP.
