All this begs the question of why do you need a fin at all on something as long and skinny as the 20' SUP. Presumably in smooth water it's going to be very directionally stable.
I am a aircraft pilot, I do understand plane canards.
As far as I know most planes dont have a paddle hanging out one side trying to push it of course?
The 20'er dosnt need a bow fin at all, it was excess glass I left there. It was a after thought, to exagerate the bow "leaverage" over the paddle pushing the board off course.
With out it, obviously, the nose being so long, it is going to go far straighter than most boards.
But Just stop & think for a second....It just adds to the paddling pleasure NOT to yawing all over the god dam place, the fin or "canard" just adds to this pleasure....particularly when going up wind...............do we get it yet?
