I have never had anything to do with competing or comps, so this may be a stupid question. What is the earlist start time for these things? If it was 10am, why would they not start at 7am?

The comp started at 8am , they ran the early surfing heats then the 10-0 class. The comp finished at 3 pm. The reason for 8am start is consideration for residents around the comp. The PA is very loud , it was held at 1st Ave Broadbeach.

7 am starts are cruel and only suit the committed. Honestly, along with the politics and cost, early starts are the other reason I have only ever competed sporadically.

If the 10' division is meant to be fun, then they should start at the equally enjoyable time of 10 am!

So youd rather surf windblown crap than clean waves..... if i can be on site at 6am 5 days a week i dont see how setting up with a committed team early is a problem

OHHH, commitment!!!!! Wasn't the 10' division meant to be about fun? Sure someone tried to beat me over the head with that one in a much older thread? Sure too I mentioned "politics" as one other reason to avoid competition?

Well looks like I am going to stick with having a late Saturday night with the lady, couple of movies and a few fine bottles of red. You boys all enjoy violating the sanctity of Sunday mornings!
