Hi, newbie to sup. What I've learned so far. Quick background:
60 old. Longboard surfed performance 9'1" from 40 intermediate at best. Nearly given up due to where I live and sh1t surf. Last few years lack of surf therefore lack of surf fitness! Only once previous to Dec2020 ridden a sup ( felt like a barge)
Noticed Longboard sups online. Joined sup boarder pro as I know so little. Big help. After some deliberation and research decided on Fanatic Stylemaster 10'x28.5 130l
Arrived late Dec2020. Whilst waiting for surf locally I paddled on local river and canal. Big bonus walked my dogs on bank whilst paddling.

Eureka moment. Paddling on flat water on doorstep I keep paddle and balance fit!!

First surf 2' 9 seconds but clean. Never caught so many waves or so easily! 31/2 hours in January.
Downside When in sea on knees and paddle into on knees then pop up. Still great progress. Ie more waves.
Ive been lucky in that I pick up new ideas and have great balance. Still only fell off once on flat water.
Progress made in paddle out on knees turn then get up paddle catch wave. (Wobbly)
Since the very beginning I've had no probs on wave getting to the nose and longish rides.
However knees and ankles could not maintain this sort of punishment!
Just not able to balance out back without huge effort. So very tiring.
In hindsight 28.5" prob a leap to far. But I didn't want a barge. Needed to be as close surf wise to prone longboard.

Sorry getting to the point: I'm 6' 90kg wintersuited.
Knew I needed something bigger.

PURCHASED SUNOVA REVOLUTION 10' x 30" 138l. Not much bigger though.

Instantly solved my balance problems ????

I can now comfortably paddle out, stand out back. Still catch waves as easily as Stylemaster. I like the feel on wave just as much as Stylemaster. Seems easier to turn just by leaning from middle of board.
Still early days yet. But can't see myself going back to the Fanatic Stylemaster.
Stylemaster is staying, maybe I'll progress. But for the present it suits my two daughters who are shorter and lighter.

This thread is about the only info from the public out there on the Revolution. It really helped me decide on this board.

A little more context to my previous post. Prone surfing, lucky if I could surf more than 1hr before my arms were knackered! So longer rest periods required. I would then get cold due to inactivity. Surf where I live is really only a winter occurrence and more wind swell than ground. SUP has been my surfing saviour. Flat water paddling keeps me fit easily. I now can spend and have spent up to 4 hrs in surf constantly catching waves. Catch them easier with bigger board and paddle on a board that doesn't feel big.

Only wish I'd found the sup Revolution sooner!?

I recently (august) bought a Sunova revolution Casey 9x26.5x 99.8L, mostly due to all the reviews on this thread, so thanks to you! It was a huge decision, especially as full price here in Denmark is about au$600 more than you're paying in Aus!
If anyone else is reading this thread and can't decide to commit - this is the board I wish I had for the last 10 years of SUP! It just feels addictive in the carve - so smooth on the rail! It carries speed, carves super tight when you're on the tail and plenty of grip. (I agree with what was said above, "so much speed and performance"!)
I normally ride a 8x27x 95L JP surf, but I don't even look at it anymore! The revolution is exciting to ride, and because it paddles so well and is stable you can move around between breaks - how SUP was when I started, before getting into "short boards". If I'm not sure how the conditions are, just take this board, as if it's flat i can still enjoy a paddle, or if it's breaking further along the bay i can paddle there.
I can't see myself changing from this board, I enjoy what I'm doing on it, but feel there's plenty to learn still with this board.
The board has good stability and I feel comfortable going out on it if it's a bit onshore and choppy (if I'm desperate!). I'm about 68kg. Super happy I chose this size.

Yes.

I have 2 custom 10ft Revolutions that are slightly different to standard. Mainly they have square tails and some slight changes to the back end and a box fin. 29 inches and 26.5. They fill my quiver as the widest and thinnest boards I own (with a number of 27/28 inch wide smiks - mainly style lords marking up the rest of my longboard sups). The revolution surfs more like a traditional longboard, great rail design and given I'm ~110kg and the 26.5 board is 119L very stable. Pic of the 26.5 wide one for reference (square tail, slightly widened back end, no handle or deck pad, box fin...really just a big longboard ???????).

This comment on another thread got me thinking about the shorter wider model.

I wonder why Sunova felt the need to include 9 x 32 in the Revolution lineup???
