I am currently riding a Smik hipster twin
I love the board.

But ... they have launched the same board with a rounded pin tail.

Can anybody tell me if this new tail on the board is worth buying ?

Thanks

It more comes down to the waves you are surfing. If mostly fatter and softer, stick to the swallow tail version.
On the new version, the pin will give more hold... they also adjusted the rocker for waves with more curl (hollower). So it suits quality waves more.

Rounded pin should also allow the board to transfer from rail to rail much easier and smoother.

Great video thanks!
Given the above comments on the pin.... what's the difference between that and the Spitfire? I notice on your website the Hipster twin pro looks very similar. I have a couple of Spitfires, love them, certainly better for my local steep beachies.. but cant get past the fun of the Hipster... its flatter rocker and shorter length makes it easier to catch waves (earlier) and more whippy coming off the lip- but doesn't like late drop-ins.

Also, if I can sneak in this slightly related question... what the difference in weight between the full carbon versions and non-carbon? I have an older Hipster and wondering if its worth replacing with carbon version.. and as per the OP, swallow vs pin.

Following this as I'd love Scott Mc's answers. Have an 8'6" spitfire that's on its last legs, best board I've ever owned and usable in just about all sizes & conditions I throw at it. Closely followed by my 7'10" hipster twin pin. Ready to pounce on an 8'4" spitfire, but now this new hipster twin pro model is out and the 8'6" looks ideal. Can't decide what's going to be best.

Oh and PS: Scott do you custom 2 piece boards like that other brand does? Would love something to world travel more easily with and I'm loving SMIK boards.

Hi Marcus
Sorry
we don't do two piece boards I'm afraid
Can't say you'd be upset with either the spitfire or the Hip twin Pro(Slightly stretched Narrower/longer)
kinda depends on which sensation you prefer of the twin to the thruster/quad option)
You are correct however that the HT pro and spitfire have become closer in terms of target conditions (Larger / Hollower)
It is a tough call I have to be honest
sorry for being no help at all :)
If there's anything that helps
I have been riding my hip twin pro a lot :)

Circling back to this post. Did anyone buy the hipster twin pro? I'm also looking at that or the twin pin. I too have a spitfire currently. not sure what to get and can't find anything online on the pro! I have seen one in person and it is definitely thinned out and nice rails compared to the twin pro. But wider nose than the spitfire.
