Just to add my .02c - I have my 8'10" speeed with me in the Maldives - absolutely loving it! Yesterday out of 15 waves, 8 were over 25 km/h (15.5 mph) with 4 over 28 km/h (fastest 30 km/h or 19 mph). For me, with my skill level - that's flying! And it turns well too. (Measured with my Ripcurl GPS watch.)

So Envious. Not been able to take mine out for 4 weeks due to injury and at least another week to go. Please post some vids/photos.

Ok. Sorry for the delay here confirming the info on the tracks.
1) Tracks & Sunovas
Yes EVERY Sunova comes with a mast track (except (please read the fine print here) any board below 8'0 and the Faasts***).
2) Durability and reinforcements
Yes. Every track is an actual track due to the fear of turning a simple screw lose. We feel that a properly installed track is way nor durable and safe. With properly we mean they all are laminated into pre-cut high density (100kg/m3) PVC inserts and than glassed in, around and over with extra glass patches.

*** the Faasts have just hit Oz and are so light that we want to add the track in all of those too. It would be probably one if the coolest boards to actually have a track on. For when you are between racing training.

I am mid 90Kg and find the 8'6" skate very easy to ride, I rode a 120L 8'6" from another company and I wish I could shed 10 L of the skate. Here is a video of me on the skate from a few months back.

I weigh in at 107 kg and would like some advice if the 8'5 speed at 112l would float me?

I have surfed the 8'8 x 32.... it is super stable

I love my 8'10 Speeed.... but.....it is not nearly as stable as your 8'8

I wouldn't have a chance on the 8'5.... and I'm 100 kg.... but I'm old, so factor that in..... that's all I got, hope it helps.

As STC says, I went from the same X32 to the 8'10" speeed. 20 litres and 32 inches does make a difference. I have lost a bit of weight since I got the X32 so I would like to try the 8'5", but personally I would recommend the 8'10" instead of the 8'5". Do you feel like you are going backwards going to a longer board? I ask because I did. I have not regretted it.

The answer is yes. It would float you.
I have surfed at approximately your weight plus wetsuit and i found it to be really nice and stable, but i was coming from an 8'0x28" at 105L. Currently i surf a 7'11 Speeed at 101.6L (custom) and it is difficult, to say the least, but it is still getting better and better. I'm 104kg.

Now, having said this, i wouldn't recommend that to you for the simple reason that it is a massive leap from a 32" wide board with about 140l to another board which is 27 3/4 wide at 112L. There are two many dimensions changing too radically and i suspect that it would be very difficult to adapt to such a change without being frustrated while trying it. It should always about the fun, and if the frustration at some point becomes greater than the fun, one would stop going out.

For that reason only, i believe that the 8'8" would be a better bet at the moment. It is a bit wider and 123l are no longer borderline limit which will allow you to feel an unbelievable speed and surf-ability difference between your current and "future" board.Then again, if you have any chance to have a try on an 8'5 just to see how it feels and if it feels doable, then go for it as it only gets better and better!

good advice

8'8" would be better. A bit more leeway - as at 112litres of the 8'5".. you are cutting things a bit fine. The Speeed does not become too corky in the middle, as it increases in positive boyancy - as do various other designs.... largely due to its straight-er sided outline. Meaning, the Speeed's size is not so critical for wave performance, that you try for the shortest and smallest possible.

I was fortunate to test out an 8'5" Speeed today at my local break , it's a 500 metre long left that was solid 4 foot and pumping, (I'm a 84kg goofy foot) but you still need some speed to get past a few sections and the Speeed certainly accelerates, the first wave I caught I bottom turned and the thing simply took off, I almost fell off the back of it I reckon, felt very skatey and you could carve quite nicely with it, given the wave really goes fast I didn't have a chance to try any decent cutbacks, hope to try it elsewhere tomorrow for that. The board has rocker you can really feel IMO and if you take a step back you get instant turning response from the unique tail which I probably need to get used to.

I have been riding a 9'6" Laird and a 8'10" JP surf, it didn't feel any less stable than either of those but it took extra effort to catch a wave being shorter than those boards, I had ridden a Sunova before and this one paddled much like the other one I tried, felt more tippy than both my other boards but I only fell off once going over some broken chop, I think this had the standard fins on it which could well be improved on with some trial and error I guess, all in all it was quite impressive and fellow surfers thought it looked pretty unique too, good points were the speed, the stability, the unique shape, I'm not overly sold on the plastic handle which fills up with water a little too much and the deck grip was a bit like sandpaper on my knees when I was standing back up after a wave, I don't kneel at all while supping but if you are someone who kneels a lot you may need knee pads!

Considering the price compared to other well known brands the Speeed is definitely in the top 3 on my list of possible next purchase boards, id also like to try an 8'2" which may be a better fit for me looking to drop a board size or 2.

Even though the cat apparently likes the 8'5" Speeed I decided to purchase the 8'2" and she had her maiden voyage today, just need to sort the fins out and try it in some better waves than the 1/2 foot onshore crap about today, I really like the look of the bottom of these boards.

This is me testing the 8'5 Speeed in Portugal while visiting the Mauka Lodge (www.maukalodge.com/) that offers specialised SUP surfing excursions in the best spots of Portugal. I can highly recommend it.

Speeed is a great board. I liked it so much, ordered one from the distributor in Portugal after the test. The board arrived safely to Mallorca, Spain. I have also a Jimmy Lewis Stun Gun 8'7. Speeed 8'5 is more stable and catches even the smallest bumps. The name speaks for itself. It is really fast down the line.

The finishing quality is awesome. Let me put it this way. I have had so many boards before and my wife never commented about any of them but this time she even said that the board looks awesome.
I weigh 83 kg and the board floats me well.

All this Sunova talk has got me interested.
Is there anywhere near Melbourne or Geelong that one can be demoed?
I'm thinking Speed in the 9ft range.

After some debate about board logos and the endless custom options that Sunova provides, they've just posted this on their FB page...

Hi considering a new speeed, I am 95 kilos, beginner- intermediate. Anyone got a thought on a 8'10 v new 9'2. I have had a fanatic all wave 9'2, so looking to step down. I tried a differrent brand at 135litres and was ok for stability in that.

If you have the chance, try the 8'10. At 29" wide and 130L, it should get really confortable as you progress!

Can I ask how did you find the allwave ?

As my first wave board I loved it, heaps of volume picks up waves easily, I have really enjoyed the board. I now find it a little slow and would like to progress my skills and this year spend more time in the water. I also spend a fair whack of my time on a race board surfing that, which is a 2015 fanatic 12'6 x 27.5 approx.
