CAN ANYONE GIVE US AN IDEA OF WHAT RETAIL IS ON THESE FALCONS????

Did you get a chance to paddle the 12'6" and if so... What is the width of the 12'6" in the pictures: I'll guess the 27.5"?

I've ordered one and the price will be north of 1900 for the hrs and about 2500 for the carbon.

Hi Bruiser,

We had confirmation that the container left on the 14th September, so I'm guessing we'll have them in store in about 3 more weeks.

We are expecting our one and only 14' x 27.5" today. It's coming in as a fluke with other products. No one knows how it got onto this order or why, but we'll take any win.

So looking forward to downwinding this puppy. Pics and review once we've had a paddle.

Yeah baby!

The big truck rolled in today with all our new Fanatic and North toys. One of the ones we have been hanging out for is the new Fanatic Falcon 14' x 27.5" race board. This is the only one in the country by a fluke of nature or a complete stuff up, whichever way, we're really pleased.

The new "One" race fin. This thing is so light you can't believe it. Also has an ABS leading edge strip. This thing is a piece of work.


We'll be getting it wet tomorrow for it's maiden voyage. V. Happy!

The 1/2 race is the remainder of a 14ft Flat Water that was run over by a Forklift at Toll's depot. Initially Toll said it was a general handling damage and not covered by their insurance.

The photo's I took of the forklift tyre marks right across the box proved them otherwise.

I'll be happy to sell it to you for half price, I'll even do a half priced paddle with it!

I'll be downwinding the 27.5" tomorrow morning. 15km of fun and mayhem. Can't wait.

PS. I agree, the Fanatic SUP's look killer this year.

there's a few things really interesting about these boards.
the bow looks like a hybrid that is ok for flat water if you stand forward and ok for DW if you stand a bit back. half way between a Bark and a Naish Glide.
rails are rounded all the way back to stern. looks like a sailboat. Barks have really sharp rails back towards stern. look at planing and fast dingy hull shapes..

how's the 14 x 27,5 work for 80 kgs ?

Looking at the extra volume in these models the 27.5 would be fine for up to 90-95kg

I tell you what though after 9 months of paddling with the fanatic 40 paddle weighing in at a around 725grams, I have recently upgraded to a Kenalu weighing in at just 500 grams!
Man, the difference is like night and day! My cadence has improved by about 50% I reckon the stroke recovery and catch on this blade is amazing!

Actually same thing happened to me.ordered a Fanatic Allwave 9'2"which was shipped by UPS. Went to pick it up only to discover a huge hole on the deck going through the deck pad int the core made by a forklift... Someone's sabotaging ;);)

As i said before, i own a 12'6 Hobie Elite that i want to replace with a new 12'6'' and i do really like Fanatic's.

When i first saw the pics of the new Falcon i thought it looked slower than the Fly Race Flatwater due its bow/dissplacement hull shape and mostly due its rocker line. I read DavidJohn's posts on the new Falcon and now i read this review: http://www.standuppaddleperth.com/index.php/blog/entry/2013-fanatic-falcon-14ft-x-275-in-review (thank you guys) and i think that confirms my early thoughts.

Having more nose and tail rocker means a shorter waterline and i think that's critical on a 12'6''. From the pics i saw and from that last review i see the nose on the new Falcons reminds most of the time out of the water, and seems like our famous reviwer feels the same:

"Initial thoughts though are than the Falcon isn't quite as quick as the Flat Water but there isn't much in it at all, and I really need to do more testing over distance to get accurate data. It's hard to determine due to the different bow shapes make the speed "look" and feel VERY different."


So, i know some of you who know well the 2012 12'6 Fly Race (27.5 Carbon) and also already tested the new 12'6 Falcon (27.5''), can someone please tell me wich one is faster and wich one would you take into a race?

I can buy NOW a 12'6 2012 Fanatic Fly Race Carbon at a good price so... my mind is a mess right now!

If I had the 2012 and the 2013 to chosse from for a race I would for ensure choose the 2013!! The board feels so good!!
Some times looking fast with a pointy nose is not fast at all!! I guess you could look at boards like the Ace with quite a wide nose but still fast, good review Darren.

Hi Coque,

If you read my review closely, I made a point of stating that more data needed to be looked at to determine flat water speeds of the two boards back to back.

Although I didn't get to do the sort of testing I was hoping for this morning, I did notice on my watch that the new Falcon was happily cruising along at 9 km/hr at a steady rate of just under 75% of my Max HR. This is similar to the work rate to speed of my Flat Water 14.

I wouldn't be making any hard and fast assumptions about what is faster or slower just yet until we can get some real data to analyse under controlled conditions.

The two boards couldn't be more different in terms of the way they move through the water and my initial experiment was a short 50m sprint at unsustainable speeds on the Falcon. As we all know Garmin GPS is not that accurate over short distance.

Todays conditions seemed to suggest that the boards were very similar in speed. I will do some more accurate testing this week. I'm sure Fanatic wouldn't have released a slower board than last year as they are pretty keen on having the quickest board.

The only boards I have seen that are faster than the 14ft Flat Water are narrower boards. If the new Falcon is as fast as the old FW, then we will be stoked.

I hope to get some good conditions to do a proper test back to back this Friday or Saturday. I'll run both boards over a 500m course in both directions and compare the data from all runs.

If you could get three other paddlers to do the test with you it would be a but m more accurate. Two paddlers start with the falcon then do the second run on the 2012 flat water, and vicversa with the other two paddlers.
That way you can see if fatigue was a factor out not on the second run.
Or better still run through the above process twice and take the average.
