I did go for a paddle on the lake though and was surprised by how straight it paddled. I thought it would be much worse coming from an Allwave 9'1 but didn't really see any difference. The 9'1 has a little more glide of course. The 8'3 sits much lower with about 1-2 cm water over the deck but still stable, so I feel I got the right size for my 90kg and 6'3.

hi guys, after a bit of advice. Have the opportunity to get either an 8'5 hrs or an 8'3 ltd . I'm currently 5'9 and weigh 88kgs but planning on getting down to 82. I previously had an 8'11 allwave but want to go a bit smaller. On the fanatic website it suggests the 8'5 but I noticed that people seem to be riding a size smaller. I would consider myself an intermediate surfer.

Hi, thanks for all your comments. I have a Fanatic Pro carbon7'11" x 28" but havent had it in decent surf yet. Can you explain the difference with the Allwave being better for choppy or mushy surf. Is it the volume or width or rocker, rails etc. will adding bigger fins to my Pro help in choppy conditions? I am pretty confident on my Jimmy Lewis 8'7" in over 3' e.g Balian Bali but want more rocker and lighter board for turns, especially when smaller, which is why I was looking and bought the Fanatic at a good price (used). paddled and caught one small wave on Starboard 7'7"ish X 28" and it seemed easier than the Fanatic, both same volume. Same day and conditions as swapped with another person out there.
