What I want to see is the ultimate crossover board that I can take anywhere and do anything on. Basically a SUP foil board I can wind wing or kite foil on, then SUP surf on, or remove the foil and add some fins as a high volume prone surfboard for small waves and shallow beach breaks.
Ye Olde Hybrid Dilemma ... the board that does everything ok, but does nothing particularly well. ;-)
At home, I travel with 5-6 boards on any given beach day, covering kite, surf, sup, foil options. I needed a sprinter van to hold them all and yes I probably have low level undiagnosed ADHD. Half kidding: for me it's about having all the toys, using whatever works best that day...the ABAG Rule, "always bring all gear". And that's why I need to figure out something for a wing, remembering that day last year where I was sup foiling until it got windy enough to kite, got a super long ride and then had a 20 minute miserable paddle back into the wind ... with a wing in hand to zip me back to the peak, and then add on a few more of those long sup foil rides, I'd give up a part of a kite session for I reckon. [the peak I was on is generally not kiteable, wind shadow/gusty]
But I digress, for travel, I want to maximize fun potential with minimal gear. I got a vanguard 5.6 with a 4 in 1 in mind: small enough to kitesurf or kitefoil, would work for surf foil, and I could potentially regular surf it in a stretch (maybe not well, but maybe just doable). I haven't yet put in tracks, but still toying with the idea.
Those hypernuts are pretty good boards, buddy has one. Though I'd say it's 4 in 1 for it potential substitutes windfoil and windsurfing for surf foil or paddle surfing. So depends what you're after.
