Hdip said..James new reel explains a bit more. Andrew gibbons. Kane and whoedo went on an outside line. So while James and Kai were in front they weren't in the big bumps.
as I understand it. Andrew was in the lead til the end and came off foil which let Kane pass him.
then kai and james. Kai was ahead of James and was overtaking edo but kai came off foil which let James pass him. Its really to bad there's not better coverage of these races and we have to piece it all together. Sounds like a great finish.
edit: oh and the start. People were leisurely paddling out to the start line. Not everyone was lined up or even close. Horn blew at the start time no matter what. So some people had to go further.EDIT2: The above might be all wrong. I didn't realize it was a 5 minute youtube too. Watch this and don't listen to me. I haven't seen it yet. .
Too bad for the lack of coverage...
Looks like an epic race with some drama ! No room for mistakes !
I'm impressed on how they can keep flying with such smaller HA foil in weak section.
And what about Dave Kalama, 58 years old and into the top 10 !! I wonder what he was riding, actually I wonder what everybody were riding (board and foil).
As for Kai, I guess that now being a dad (especially with twins) makes a huge difference, even if he is a Pro athlete, having kids is someting you have to deal with (usually less sleeping, haha). But we all know the guy, he is gonna be fired up for M2O for sure !!
