Greetings. Anymore feedback on the 1600 vs the 1550 for wingdinging. I've been using the 2400 with great success but need a little less foil for those 18+ knots days.
Situation update: After receiving some feedback here and having a couple of beers I decided to order the 1550, 232 & 85 mast. Armstrong offered free shipping over Christmas and I wanted to take advantage of this since I live on a rock in the middle of nowhere and shipping can get expensive. I have been completely obsessed with Sup foiling for the last 2 years, the wingding has taken the obsession to the point of foil insanity. I have been using the 2400 and Uni tail to learn with along with F-One Swing wings. This setup works great, the 2400/uni tail is super stable and well balanced, it cruises around quietly, effortlessly and efficiently like it was specially designed for wingdinging. Over 18 knots, it still worked great, but I felt I could use less foil. Enter the 1550/232, it rides and feels almost exactly like the 2400/uni just faster with improved handling. The increased speed is not 'holy **** I'm going to crash speed' but more confidence boosting where you want to rip a turn because I have all this speed and it feels amazing. I also feel that I can point higher to weather, this might be related to the added speed. The 85 mast was also a game changer, the extra height helps when flying over choppy water. The 85 seems to help through the turns as well, giving some extra wiggle room. Armstrong has definitely figured it out, adding just the right amount of magic to their foils.
