Ha! We are about 4 miles south of Coffs. Done a 18 hour overnight run from Seal Rocks. Lotsa whales!!!

Enjoy the nice weather gents. I must me dragging the crud north with me. Pulled into Margaret Bay yesterday after an over night run out from a few days at Flinders Is. An hours sleep, about to crack a beer but check the weather instead (off satphone, no reception for a week or so). Departed an hour later for a night run to Adulphus Is in 20 to 25kts and 1.5 a 2mtr seas, but beats what we would be facing come Monday. Need to get to Thursday Is tomorrow for water.

No whales for us yet either. Must of kept ahead of them.

Not possible Dreamliner, as any greenie worth his or her Communist party membership would tell you the whales are an endangered species that is only just managing to hold on to their continued existence by the skin of their non existant teeth, so therefore it would be impossible to see huge numbers of the animals cruising north, nope you must have been seeing things. ...

I bet your nice and warm now Toph I have just clocked 54 hours at work this week on the water with top temps around 31 degrees....who cares if it's windy when it's warm!

That was what my wife was saying SA, "you can put up with a lot more when you are warm". We did a planned 138nm run, a 4 hour rest then an unplanned 84nm run to keep ahead of some weather (30kts plus forecast for tomorrow). Sitting here in Adolphus Island I think we made the right decision. Exhausted but warm.. we are happy -for now

Arrived at Keppel. Lovely and calm with about 22 other boats.
PS. my new Cell-fi go Telstra booster seams to be working a treat. We have had phone and internet all the way since we left Brisbane. The post I did earlier today was from 5 miles east of Cape Capricorn.

No wind near coffs so pulled in and topped up.the jerry cans and service my new motor ready for what we thought would be a slow motor to the gold coast. Left coffs on sunday 1 pm. At tweed head 7.30 pm monday great sailing.going to hang around gold coast for a few days then move up to redcliffe to install anchor winch.Better news" Rodger the cabin boy " found another packet of tim tams, does it get any better

I will let you know what berth they give us in the marina when we get there. Being one of the small fry, I suspect we will be out in the boondocks.....

Stern gland has been fixed and a couple of other small jobs done in the meantime. We leave at 8pm this Thursday night.

I rocked into Horn Is expecting to be one of a handful of boats. There are 70 or so here now. I didn't know there was a TI to Indo rally. Actually I clued onto it before now but I was hoping to be out before they all rocked up but they made a bee line for here when the forecasts went crook.

Blowing a gale on the Cape for next few days Troph... You might have to put up with them as my guess it will be a bit rough in the gulf!

Yeah you're right Southace. The departure for the rally is Friday and Saturday. I'm looking like leaving this stage on Sunday. I bet most these rally boats don't leave until then either. But they are going a different way...

Just spoke to a mate with a house on Hammo. There are over 50 still without roofs, so accommodation is next to impossible for race week now. Bad for me, I'm still trying to get a chance to organise everything.
I think I might bail and doing Airlie this year in lieu.

There is a normally a nuts amount of people at race week, so if you're not a crowd lover, yes mate, steer clear!

Sorry to hear Shaggy. Yep, my accommodation was cancelled a couple of weeks ago due to storm damage. Luckily, I was able to grab another place, but a lot more cramped than the one we had originally. I think the numbers will be down this year because of Debbie.

Can you get a place at Airlie and commute out to Hammo for the racing? Or stay on the boat in the marina?

I can't speak for Hammo, but Airlie and Cannonvale were very quiet about 6-7 weeks back.
Shute Harbour is still a bit of a mess but the other two have cleaned up quiet a mess. I don't think you'll have trouble getting accommodation in Airlie.

I was going to do this last year too, but the day we arrived we of course promptly stripped the boat of every removable part and dumped it on the dock then wrapped it all in a tarp. Getting back after a hard days racing, I took one look at the enormous pile on the dock, looked downstairs at an utterly gutted boat, and went and stayed in a very comfy unit for the week .
There was still some bungalows for rent this year, but the price is just nuts for what you get.

We've worked out a plan, we've got a mate doing Hammo. We're both doing the Keppel race, but he's not doing Airlie. So, we'll wander over to Hammo and say G'day, hop on for some of the week with them, and they'll hop on Fusion for Airlie week, as they've got no commitments from Keppel to the start of Hammo.

So hopefully a win/win!

No wonder your thing goes quick if you strip everything out. We will probably still have the dinghy on the foredeck and the outboard on the rail. Well, maybe not, but only because the foredecky will get annoyed with the trip hazard.

Cruising (with spinnakers).
We're going to be in trouble if everyone strips their boats for the race; we'll have a week of supplies and grog for 5 in the galley and a deflated dinghy and motor in the cockpit locker. Better pack a tarp (nah)

I think we are both down the shorter end of the fleet. Most seem 40ft or above

Hi EC31,
It was funny, the crew were going pell mell throwing everything onto the dock. I had to draw the line when a 10 pack of those little alfoil trays you use for cooking got tossed onto the dock :) .

I'll make sure I look you up mate, we'll be either rafted up somewhere or on the X-41, CR div.

Are you doing Cruiser div with/without kites?
