Your fit up is neat enough. I don't think it needs anything else.

you can get aluminum foil tape that is reinforced that is very sticky and strong. I use it in the aircon. industry when we sound proof and insulate ductwork.

Just google it.

The engine led looks blue when you take a photo but it's white light when I look at it

By the end of Sunday I glued the cockpit floor sound proofing and also the two small side panels at the front I used a sellies quick grip Gel it was the gel style nice to used and stuck really well .Then shortend a couple of battery cables and transfer the original battery box over to the star board side storage compartment under the stern bunk. So I can now finalize the wiring and get rid of the temp wiring Ive made and wire in my blue seas 7610 properly. I also painted the engine and transmission after marsking it up

so all this has gone all I have to refit is the sea strainer and fit up my gauge sender units oil temp and volts . start solenoid wire and stop soleniod wire and refit the exhaust through the mizzen bulk head after I replace the hoses with good quality hoses the sea strainer will go on the left hand ( starboard side) some where practical.

After a month of scraping, sanding, painting, filling, sanding, painting etc etc I finally got my gold stripe

I'm loving that throttle HG. Just make sure those fittings in the cockpit are watertight as a rogue wave could fill that cockpit to the brim.

When the cock pit fills there is over one tonne weight SirJman . I am not sure how long it would take to drain through the rudder hole
I still have a lot of work to do to the gauge panel. I think Ill paint them the same color as I make the no skid when I paint them

I used some of the left over roof panels to make a side cover between the engine bay and the starboard side bunk Ill seal this up and glue the sound proofing to it
Also cut a panel for the port side engine panel and will glue sound proofing to that also and make it removable to do any work on the rear of the engine and trans mission it makes it a lot easier to work in the engine bay specially for an old bloke

I doubt those gauges will get effected to much by water from the outside.most have a rubber seal to keep the water from entering the wire at the Back.. I would use Clear dodger pastic material sealed up at the top and with press studs down the sides.

The gauges are all plastic housings with orings

Or you could make a nice neat instrument panel for down below and wire a siren alarm with a blue flashing light for the cockpit.I don't have any instruments on my BMW D7 but it does have a tacho but I never look at it. The choice is yours old chap.

Previous owner of my boat had his analogues above deck, but they got sun damaged and broken. Now all I have are lights and alarms below deck. Worked a treat when my water pump cracked the sads.

I'll probably make her into sloop I think so I can Utilize the cock pit room hang the. Mizzen in a shed for a while

The Tacho will be fitted in the inspection hatch after its been removed Ill trim it with teak also wiring in a couple of alarms (oil and Temp) and purchased a flange for my fuel gauge send
Also another package arrived with a couple of vents for the forward cabin

What advantage do you see in leaving the mizzen mast off

I thought that this was discussed a while ago and there was information to suggest that the ketch rig had a lot of advantages over the sloop rig

If you take the mizzen off, the rig will be unbalanced as the mast will be too far forward for a sloop configuration and you will have severe lee helm, not to mention that the boat will now be underpowered as well, having no sail at the back. You should seriously rethink that idea.

That yacht looks to be sailing really well for the conditions.

I am using the Kill Rust three step system to repaint my engine.

1. After cleaning and degreasing apply Kill Rust "Rust Eeter" which is based on a phosphoric acid rust cure which is carried in a plastic coating medium.
It has a syrup like consistancy and turns the surface black.

2. Apply Kill Rust "Heavy duty primer". I haven't done this yet. Will do today. I think this is an etch type primer as metho is used as thinner and for clean up.

3. Apply Kill Rust anti corrosive top coat. I will be using Altex Hammer Tone, a solvent based single pack enamel. I think it will be compatible but I will try it on a small part first.

Will post pics tonight.

Cisco did you need to remove all the hoses and ancillary equip first?

HG I would like to do the same thing to my Bukh DV 24. Oil and temp gauges; and a tacho. Is it difficult to fit a tacho?

To be honest Il not sure how accurate it will be as it takes it impulses off the Alternator I will have a read on the instruction sheet and let you know.

I use a alternator off a Holden 80 amp and also the pulley that came with it this was slightly smaller diameter than the original pulley .
Ill have a read after dinner and get back to you
At the worst it will fill a hole in the stern of the boat that will look better with a tacho in it

On a boat like that you don't need winches .... it's wenches you want.

Absolutely!!

The engine has been stripped of alternator, starter motor, water pump and all hoses.

The spray can recondition was done by the last owner. I am undoing that and doing it right.

I didn't get out to the boat today because it was raining and it was Bill pay day.

Unfortunately my name is not Bill.
