got down to the boat around 930. Drank a red bull to get in a frisky mood and surveyed the days work in mind. Took the top off a layer of penguard HB with some 220 paper, mixed up the next layer of HB and started rolling on both sides of the boat.
when that was done, i jumped inside and cleared out all the washers, screws, bolts, tools, old sandpaper, discs, glass matt, bottles of epoxy and drums of polyester, bits of wood, rags, paint tins, solidified polyester lumps in the bottom of Chinese containers etc etc etc.
set up the generator and sanded off all the daggy bits of chopped strand hanging down from all the overhead core replacement due to deck leaks from previous
dumb ass owner. sanded anything else inside that looked lumpy-ish.
grabbed a 20 litre bucket and started to wash out the inside. liberally tossed water everywhere. filled up the bilge to the floor boards four times until it ran clear. there were massive amounts of fibreglass dust trapped up under the bunks and the cockpit. loads of broken up foam core floating every where
it was a real mess. and im itchy as usual. it took probably three hours. Drilled some mouse holes where water was getting trapped under the bunks.
went down to marine shop, bought some new grey ribbed carpet for floor, its now sitting in front of the tv...so i can keep looking at it with excitement.
joined two lengths of 3/4 copper tube together (i work for myself as a plumber) to try and get the main halyard down that has run up the mast (grrrr) but it was too long and impossible to control the hook end. ill chuck a ladder up tomorrow and it will be fine.
by that stage, the HB was dry enough for another coat, so i mixed some more up and hit it again.
god id love a beer and a bottle of chardonay right now....but i better not.
tomorrow will be a repeat performance....but with nice carpet to make dirty.
have a nice weekend everyone
