Vague update.

Local Newcastle radio news have said the location is the catamaran is now unknown to the authorities and it is up to insurance company to salvage if they want to.

Guess it will be floating around in the ocean currents for a while.

Ya might have to go out there, tow it into a secluded beach, then take anything off it that's worth anything Craig.

Actually you'd need to retrieve at own expense and claim costs against insurance company for out of pockets and/or come to some agreement otherwise what you described would be theft. Although I'd rather do as you say

Maybe it is theft, but it's only going to the bottom anyway. Might as well make some use out of it. That is of course if the owners don't take it first.

For heavens sake. Three people died on this boat only a week ago, and now people are so selfish that they'd talk about stealing gear from the wreckage? Is this a community of sailors or not? Publicly writing about theft from the wreckage of others lives is one of the most pathetic, low, weak minded statements anyone could make.

Where just kidding mate. I don't mean to cause offence. Surely you can see this? With this "" on the end isn't it obvious I don't mean that.

PS crustysailor I am located near Gladstone. Nowhere near Newcastle.

That first comment (without the smiley face) sure doesn't read like kidding to me.

Just one of these sad stories is of strong interest with respect to carriage by time and tide - two is almost beyond belief.

Mylestom is roughly an 780-kilometre drive from Elliott Heads, or about 620 kilometres as the crow flies.
